As Kyrsa starts in on going back to the tavern was not a good idea, Mina's mood worsens. She wasn't sure in her own right if it was or not and really didn't take the time to think about it. Honestly, at the time she thought it was a good idea, to try and help out the tavern, just in case. But it blew up in her face. When Kyrsa asks about the folder, "Nope. just that he traded slaves. So either he did in knowingly or some slim chance he's well, I doubt it."
As they get to the safehouse, Mina collapses on one of the chairs near the twins, and welcoming the distraction, she asks, "What sort of trouble did you two get into tonight?"
As they get to the safehouse, Mina collapses on one of the chairs near the twins, and welcoming the distraction, she asks, "What sort of trouble did you two get into tonight?"
The twins glance at each other and start laughing. "Trouble? Us?What gives you that idea?"
"Spar gave us the night off, and told us about this little dive bar run by a nice old human lady who keeps a stash of dwarven stout in the back."
"Over in the waterfront district..."
"While we were there some local thugs came in and started harassing the owner..."
"So we invited them out into the street to discuss their lack of manners..."
"And like a bunch of sissies, they called out for their friends...."
Jhaartael leaves the discourse and explanations to the others. He sets Artaquetië to his perch, then takes a seiza position and begins meditating, traversing his consciousness in trance.
Once rested, he will spend what additional time they have prior to teleporting, by perusing the library for any interesting spell books or scrolls he might take with him for 'travel reading' and to fill out his spellbook.
Jhaartael... will spend what additional time they have prior to teleporting, by perusing the library for any interesting spell books or scrolls he might take with him for 'travel reading' and to fill out his spellbook.
((Not forgotten - just trying to use the little time we have to check before we leave this place for a while. Also, Jhaartael feels the Libram is probably not the sort of book he should pick up for light reading, but rather wait till he has proper time to investigate it safely))
Lyndaran, as they walked towards the safehouse, acknowledges that perhaps their incorporeal friends will not receive the refugees in the best of ways.
"You are right. I am not wounded, I will go to the Nightmare and warn the ghosts that perhaps we do have visitors and that they should behave. I'll meet you at the safehose"
With that the wood elf darts across the streets towards the old ship.
( I will not put a full long rest just in case he hasn't had the time once he goes to the Nightmare and then back to the safehouse before teleporting. Once in the safehouse he will meditate and resupply of arrows and get a good bath before leaving )
Mina smiles as the twins recount their tales. She is finding that she likes the two of them a lot. "Bunch of sissies is right. Though I bet the rest of them look a lot worse than the two of you."
She then gets up and heads to the area to restock what she's lost. She picks up a dagger to replace the one she gave Nyla, and another net since hers was torn to shreds. Grabs a couple of arrows to refill her quill and then heads to a quiet place to meditate.
Before she does though, she finds Kyrsa, "Sorry for my harsh reactions. Today has been, well tough. I'm usually better at controlling my emotions, but well.. until I figure out what is going on with my brother, I think it is going to be more difficult. Those files just stated his growth amongst the ranks, and that he is indeed carting around people cargo and knows it. But what Nyla says? I don't know. Though you can act nice and still be a shit slave dealer. Damn it!" as the anger she thought she had held down surges forth again, she shrugs and leaves Kyrsa to go meditate.
As Mina reaches her room to seek solitude and inner peace, she grumpily tosses the Thamior folder on the table... and a small slip of paper she hadn't noticed before falls to the ground. It must have been stuck between pages or under something. As she picks it up to look at it, it has a few lines scrawled across it, but the characters are very unusual, like no Common or Elvish writing she has seen before. There are geometric figures, hieroglyphs, smudges of ink, and some rather obscene pictograms. It reminds her of some of the graffiti she has seen on walls in certain parts of Athkatla.
Lyndaran makes his way back to the ship, and heads below-decks. As he reaches the bottom of the ladder, Barty the Butcher leaps out at him, going for the jump-scare. Lyndaran is not all that startled, however, causing Barty to grumble, "Must be losin' me touch."
The ranger explains that there may or may not be a small group of displaced tavern-workers and their families moving onboard the ship for a while. Barty does not seem to understand at first, and Lyndaran has to patiently explain it twice more before it sinks in. "So... I'm not supposed ter scare 'em?"the ghost repeats, puzzled, but shrugs. "All right, whatever."
When queried about his diminutive companion, Barty replies, "Oh, she's been out spying on the neighbors. She'll be back anytime now. Say, can she scare the folks what is comin'?"
Lyndaran explains yet again that they are friends and should be welcomed. Barty stares at him sadly. "Ye don't really grasp this whole ghostin' thing verra well, do ye?"
"I guess I don't... Ok I tell you what. You can startled them as you did to me, once they have settled in. I am sure that if you both talk with the child first you can start a little competition between the children and you two and see how many adults you can startled. Better that way? "
Compromises... Lyndaran think to himself society needs them, even in death... how much I miss the woods...
While not an impressive collection, Jhaartael, ever the bibliophile, does get lost in perusing the books and scrolls in the safehouse library. He does not find any magical tomes, but among the imprints of popular dwarven romance and an incomplete collection (vol 1-5, 8-10) of the "Tales of the Tailor of Anauroch" he finds a brochure on the Magikal Markets of Athkatla. This last appears to be a publicity pamphlet, probably a little dated, which just gives the briefest mention of the many wizarding guilds/schools/libraries in the city. A few of these are more prominently detailed, most likely due to having contributed to the publication costs of the brochure.
When the group starts getting ready for the teleport, Jhaartael hastily tucks the brochure into his spellbook, and moves briskly to join his comrades.
Mina tucks the piece of paper in her pocket, completely confused as to what it might mean. She decides to meditate now and worry about that later.
As they all start gathering in the common area before the elves teleport, she waits till the dwarves are around as well since they are much more familiar with Athkatla. When she gets a moment to speak, she pulls out the paper from her pocket, and asks, "Can anyone read what is written on this sheet of paper?"
Kyrsa gives Mina an almost pitying look when she answers her question about the folder. However, she quickly changes her expression and chooses to let it go for now. Clearly Mina hadn't found what she was hoping for in those papers.
She nods to Lyndaran when he offers to head to the Nightmare. Perhaps it was better if only one of them went--the less traffic the place gets the less likely anyone is to take notice of it.
When they enter the safe house to find the dwarven duo tending to their wounds Kyrsa's stifles a laugh at the mention of "pretty boy Tamryn" but comments instead on the visible injuries and the story they gave Mina. "Well we're glad you're alright, and I'm sure those sissies got what they deserved," she smiles. "Where are Spar and the others? I would like to discuss our mission--I'm not sure how important the information we gathered will turn out to be, but I would like to make my report before the... smaller details slip my mind." She says the last part as she becomes very aware of the numbers and records from the documents they gave Nyblond bouncing around in her head.
When Mina approaches her a second time, Kyrsa gives a soft smile. Seeing her try to leave, Kyrsa puts a hand on Mina's shoulder and says, "It's quite alright. You're not the only one feeling wrung out after today, and I said my fair share of harsh words as well. I understand you have... other things you are dealing with outside of our mission, and... just know I'm here for you if you need someone to talk to." She pauses, thinking about the information that Mina shared about her brother, "I see, and you are right. It is a possibility that he could have been acting, however... have you considered the possibility that he could be conducting an infiltration of his own? Now, I don't want to give you false hope as this is... just a small possibility. I also don't know what kind of a person your brother was before all this happened. People can change, and sometimes they change for the worse, but that doesn't mean that he did." She takes her hand off of Mina's shoulder, and clasps her hands behind her back, "Whatever the case, whether he's really the wicked person he's appearing to be, or he's secretly on a mission of his own, its up to you how to handle it. I'll be there to help you however I can."

"Mollie!"
"Oh, sorry... probably shouldn't have said that...."

If you want to meditate for 4 hours, you have time to get the benefits of a long rest before you are due to teleport.
