Bryony lights a torch to help her see, which of course is not very stealthy at all, so she doesn't go as far as she hoped. She returns to the others and tells them she heard the sound of water, a LOT of water.
"There could be a river or a lake down here," she says excitedly.
Quinn hangs back keeping watch from the rear. He takes a few test swings with the Lightbringer mace trying to get a feel for the heft. He’s impressed. He raises this mace high and it illuminates the cavern with a warm radiant glow.
He steps forward and joins Jurgen and Bryony up front.
“Water you say?”
He looks toward Ruven.
”Ruven, do you know the origin of the name Wave Echo Cave?”

Bryony lights her torch, only to discover that she is just steps from falling off a sharp ledge, dropping some 15 feet into a swirling unsettled body of water, the surface of which descends slowly as she watches.
The narrow ledge they find themselves on overlooks a large cavern housing a surging, seething body of receding water.
WHOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM. A fresh surge of water funnels into this chamber and slams against the wall just below the ledge. The water level immediately rises by ten feet.
The party has found the source of the booming waves. The echo suggests that the cavern ahead is vast.
“Careful at the ledge. There could be a cave in. With all that water rushing in.”
Quinn steps forward and hugs the wall. He looks to the west and notices a passage way in that direction. Quinn slowly and carefully walks in that direction.

Boona and Jurgen, at least, have a jump on the huge tentacle suddenly reaching out of the surging waters toward Boona, and may act first. Bryony and Ruven may roll initiative (at disadvantage) and act if you roll 13+.
Quinn is distracted by the odd passage to the southwest, which is broad but low-ceilinged – only 5' high.
Boona reached out a long arm as the tentacle headed for her and tried to snag it, if successful she began walking backwards away from the water dragging the tentacle with her....
Boona hovers, unsure if she should follow just yet...
