Just a heads-up I might be slower on the posts this weekend. In addition to (maybe) flying out tomorrow for a family wedding, I made it to the next round of the NYC Midnight short story contest, so I'll find out at 11pm tonight what my next subject is, and I've got till 11pm Sunday to write 2k words on it.
And to make it more fun, I spent 8 hours in the emergency room today for...something that's been bugging me since Tuesday, and they were able to determine it wasn't a heart attack, cancer or internal bleeding, but other than that, they don't know what it is, so I'll have to go see specialists next week. As my wife says, never be "interesting" in medicine.
So I'm a bit distracted currently. :D
Congratulations though on being in the story contest! I hope you will be able to find inspiration before then and good luck writing it! That is really cool.
But Whoa oh my god I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm glad it wasn't any of those other conditions, but that is a horrible experience to go through. That is awful. I hope you will be able to figure it out!!! Take your time as needed!!!

Thanks. There were 6143 of us in the contest, and 2250 made it through to round 2. There are two more after this, if I make it all the way. The last round, you get a subject and then 24 hours to write 1k words on it.
Yep, weird on the health thing. I generally don't have any health problems at all, which is pretty fortunate, so this makes the unknown even weirder for me. I think that was the first time I've spent time in an ER in my life. Hopefully next week it'll get sorted out and it'll turn out to be nothing much.

Yeah no problem! That's so fireee Hopefully you get into those next two rounds!!! *fingers crossed* Do you know what in general are going to write?
Yikes yeah that sounds really scary. That must be really hard and confusing man, sorry that you have to go through that. But yeah please get it checked sooner than later! It's better to double check and make sure so you can get the help (if you need it) earlier. I truly hope things go well.

Nope. We don't find out till the next round starts, so I'll find out in...44 minutes. My first one was "Action adventure - breaking point," and I had to include "a cycling enthusiast." We'll see what this one entails.
Definitely getting it checked out, and getting well. No desire to be sick. Thanks for the well-wishes, everyone. Yaudara will heal himself and be ready for smiting soon.
@Miglasezis, now that we are in wildshape territory, Toadstool can assume different forms and will be making a ton of rolls that do not exist on his sheet. These rolls get difficult for me to parse since the DDB roller just labels them as 'custom.'
I'd like future attack rolls to be followed by an accompanying damage roll. That will help me keep it all sorted when multiple dice get tossed in a round.
So like, in the current round, you rolled: Attack, Attack, Damage, Spell effect
But moving forward, I would like it if the rolls looked like: Attack, Damage, Attack, Damage, Spell effect.
In other words ... even if you think (or know) that the attack is a miss ... please roll the accompanying damage.
That way there will be no confusion over what damage roll applies to what roll, and then any extra rolls ... say, due to a bonus action or what have you ... get added after.
That way, it will be clear that those rolls are not part of an attack sequence and are part of the action that follows.

Sure, no problem!
As I rolled 1 for bite, I just skipped the damage, but in next turn I will do what you said. No problems! Btw - do I have to go in the text order of the "Multi attack" description or I can choose what goes first - bite or claws?
Or I can use the built in roller and just avoid the editing the text afterwards, so it doesn't mess up
Sorry I missed a round. I think I noticed that last night, but I was still doped up on pain meds, hehe. Here's what I'd like to do. Tell me if my math is right, please, Mr. DM:
Move 30' east, then take the Dash action to move another 30' roughly southeast. Next round, my movement should bring me just to the right of the bear, so I can use my action to melee attack the giant toad. Does that sound doable? If so, I'll post it in the IC forum.
Thank you. I'd really like to avoid using the forum roller for combat related stuff because when it goes wonky, it goes wildly wonky and breaks the game for me.
For the order of attacks, let's just assume that everything always happens in the order they are listed on the sheet.
So for this current form, the grizzly gets two attacks: bite and claws. When you toss attack #1 / damage #1 ... that is the bite. Attack #2 / damage #2 ... that is the claws.
I'd like to avoid adjusting the order of operations round-by-round because ... if you ever had a form that has say .... 1d4 weenie damage for attack #1, and then could do 4d100 mega-pow damage for attack #2 ... when you roll attack #1 and get a 20 we already know that the weenie attack is a crit.
If, on each round, you were able to decide which damage to roll after seeing the results of the attack roll ... it raises too many eyebrows when the nat 20 for attack#1 just happens to be the mega-pow attack.
I'm not saying that you would do it intentionally, but by being able to switch the order of operations at will, it introduces a level of eyebrow arching second-guessing that I'm not comfortable with.
I acknowledge that it gets a little weird when there are multiple targets in play. For example, it might look suspicious if, every time someone rolled a 20 ... in that round ... the crit attack ignores the foe 5' away the character had been attacking for three straight rounds to instead dedicate that critical hit against the heavily armored BBEG that is 40 feet away and no one had even looked at yet.
But solving for that in PbP is a level of granularity that gets very hard to 'lock down' before the dice are tossed ... so I'm good with accepting a certain level of chaos and just trusting you guys to tell me which attack targets whom (even if you technically are seeing the attack/damage results and then telling me where those attacks go).
Does that sound doable? If so, I'll post it in the IC forum.
Yes. Makes sense to me. Move+Dash+Move gets you in melee distance of the giant toad and its rider. That leaves one remaining action to declare and catches you up to the action.
No worries at all. One of the great things about PbP is that is is asynchronous. With a little head's up, I can work you into the action without losing out on too much.
@Skipper I thinkie as a rogue you can Bonus Action (Cunning Action) -> Disengage (Which means no opportunity attack from the froggies when you move away). I also generally suggest first moving away because you have disadvantage when making a ranged attack in melee.
Where is that bear? Underwater? In the sky? Cannot compute.

Hey Mr DM - I have a question regarding PbP and reactions - how do we handle those?
If someone wants to cast a shield, do a sentinel attack or a counterspell or whatever - does it have to be declared in my turn as a possibility or I can do it after you write the turn summary? Seems silly either way, but how will you do it?
@SunDial Could be wrong since I'm still learning 5e, but I don't think you'd get the Sneak Attack, unless you have advantage or one of us is within 5ft of the target.
Granted, I suppose DM could say you have advantage.
Also, if Balen becomes Rinn's apprentice, that could be a kind of fun way to give flavor to an Arcane Tricker archetype later on. Just thought that just now.

Well, good luck with all three of those things!
There is no rush whatsoever to get back into this.

Guys, write me some bear noises. Can't seem to "write" them accurately.

No, become Toads bestie and he might let you ride a bear. Or horse. Or tiger. Or giant spider.
