This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Hi! I'm going to be DMing a Dragons of Stormwreck Isle campaign, though with some minor modifications of my own, as I deem fit (including some UA). I don't have much experience except for with my hack-and-slash group of friends, who I have since stopped playing DnD with, and a couple of campaigns on DnD Beyond, but I have a good grasp of game rules.
Note that I have, in the past, gone inactive without notice--I had a bit of an irl emergency, though I should have notified. I feel it would be good to notify our future players, even if such an event is unlikely to occur again.
Alright! Let's get started! Please submit applications by PM or in the thread. Thank you!
Content: Feel free to use any official 5e content from any sourcebook, and potentially even some UA. Please check with me before including any of that in your character. No Critical Role, though.
Starting Character: We will be starting at first level, with only the items provided by your class and background.
A Me Thing: I'm a DM who likes to keep track of encumbrance and storage capacity and hunger and thirst, but I'll try and keep at kind of stuff mostly in the background. At the start, we'll just say that you each start with a handcart which, when combined with your backpack, can just about hold all your stuff. A larger wagon will probably be available quite early, as will other portable storage options.
Requirements: I'm going to want a fully fledged out description and summary of your character within 3 days; at that point I will make selections, unless I deem I do not possess enough submissions, in which case, I will make an announcement in this thread. I only take characters with roleplay potential, legitimate personality flaws, etc.
Ability Scores: Please roll two sets, and choose whichever set you like. I prefer having higher ability scores, mostly because big numbers are fun to see.
If you have any questions or concerns about the above, please voice those in this thread.
Thisselaar, This, to his friends, of which there are few is a reclusive Half-elf, sickly really as he struggles with an ongoing disease that saps his strength. The cure, the solution to this ailment defies even his vaunted intelligence and will.
Hi. I've finally had more free time and wanted to try this.
Name: Jurt
Race: Changeling
Class: Sorcerer (Draconic Bloodline)
Background: Anthropologist
Backstory: A wide-eyed believer in exploration. She is very optimistic and curious, always seeking out new things and finding new stories to talk about. Loves learning the people, places, and the sights. Born from a Dragonborn mother and a changeling father, the outcome is almost always a changeling. Given up to live with her maternal aunt and cousins, she tried to her very best to follow up to her clanmates to no avail. Once she was of age, she decided to study magic on her own, mostly wandering around and doing odd jobs here and there. Mostly she wanted to understand people and how they treated each other and learning history. She's a bit too trusting at times and doesn't pay attention to risks. She has fallen and gotten back up more times than she can remember. Likes to do first and think later and can certainly be very stubborn and not back down in an argument. Very talkative and excitable and would love to share any random fact or trivia with you.

DM: Drakkenheim Mind and Matter + Blood Secrets + What's in the Here and Now; Twimee'zah Roleplay
Player: Night Ravens; Dragonlance; 100 Dungeons of the Blood Archivist; LARP in Sharn; Last Chapters
Backstory: At a young age Finn had a talent for martial arts, and a hunger for battle, although he has effective quick thinking he’s impulsive and unpredictable. Eventually, his parents were convinced to send him for martial arts training. He would dominate his class effortlessly and soon be the top of his age-group. He strives to perfect his martial arts, and despises losing a fair battle. After years of training he decided to start travelling, meeting new people and honing his skills.”
Wow... the Dice Deities did not smile favorably on those rolls! Now.. let me see what I can cook up...
NAME: Nanaar Baharoosh
RACE: Dragonborn
CLASS: Sorcerer
BACKGROUND: Far Traveller
BACK STORY:
Once, the Family bloodline was powerful. Over the centuies it had fallen. The Family worked hard to make liasons with other Dragonborn Bloodlines in an attempt to strengthen their Line. Then Nanaar came along. Forever thin and sickly as a child; not much better as an adult in the eyes of many Family supporters. Worst of all... or perhaps double the worsts -- his powers did not manifest immediately and he. was. BLUE. A line of dragonborn from some odd, stray branch of the Family long forgotten. BLUE. And weak. Nanaar tried to compensate by studying the arcane arts but, even then, it felt as if something was preventing him from reaching his true potential.
Just existing was shame-ing the Family and it's chance at rebuilding the Line. Naraan knew he had to leave home and make his way no matter how poorly his 'way' might be before he was forced out - or - more typical 'culled' from the Line.
"Time on the road can change a person for good or ill..." or so the stories say. It was just as night fell and Nanaar was slowly walking out of a small town when he was jumped by a gang of cutpurses. Knocked down. Poked and kicked. He knew his 'way' was about to get cut short -- literally. Just as the last kick sent his head snapping aside, 'something' cracked in his chest. He felt a pain and a surge of power he had never experienced before. The pain was so great, he screamed. And with that scream came a crackling surge of blue-white lightning that lit up the darkness.
Blinding light and then darkness again. Nanaar blinked as he slowly regained his feet and wits; standing to find himself surrounded by twitching and smoking bodies. Naraan decided discretion was the better part of valor and moved 'at haste' back onto the road. At least now, his 'way' was a bit clearer. Now he had manifest an ancestor's power. Now, he felt he had a direction - to find out what these powers could do to help him on his path of self discovery.
Mother told Nell about the heavenly visitor who fathered her. Something about "fulfilling destiny" and "hero the land needs". Her dad sounded SO wonderful. She wanted SO much to meet him. But she never did. Years passed. Other dads taught their kids how to play ball, how to dance, how to fight. Hers never showed. Love and joy turned to bitterness and the "Chosen One" was seduced by the dark side. Fell in with the wrong crowd. She kept up with her training of course. She realized it was all she had going for her.. And eventually she saw the cruelty of the criminal life she'd gotten involved in. She chose the side of good, not because it was her destiny. Because it was Right.
"So now you come to visit when I"m grown, sire? Thats the word isn't it? The sire is the male to breed chosen offspring. Cause "Dads" are THERE for their kids. Being Holy does NOT give you the right to abandon your kid. I won't join the "other side", I'll take my vows. But not YOUR vows! And to be clear, Nell is my dead name. I've been "Knell", with a K, like the sound of a tolling bell for a few years now. Consider it a wake up call."
(I got to thinking about the "chosen one" trope. And holy babies who have adopted dads, but not their celestial father. So I gave it a twist. Now the the Celestial host know that the only thing ornerier than an archfiend, is a teenager)
