It's been a few days since you set out from the town of Birakruut. Having received word of an owlbear far stronger than usual, you decided to track it down. Perhaps for glory. Perhaps for the sake of making the town safer. Or perhaps for the handsome gold reward. Now your tracking has found its quarry. In waning hours of day as dusk descends you've found a cave. Animals bones litter the ground around. It's quiet. But then sound comes from the cave. Snorting and hooting. Shadows move. And then the owlbear walks into view.

Morjan is able to release a powerful firebolt. However as it reaches the owlbear the thick feathery fur of the beast is able to dampen it's impact as it fades into nothing, not getting through.

Herron moves 10’ straight north and uses the tree for cover. Peering around the tree, he uses his 2 attacks and fires his bow, utilizing his SHARPSHOOTER feat. The first attack is a roll of 9 +10= 19 with a (-5) penalty for a total of 14. The damage is 13 (+10)= 23 if it hits. The second attack is a roll of 2 + 10= 12 with a (-5) penalty for a total of 7. The damage is 12 (+10)= 22 if it hits.
Herron's first arrow strikes true, landing a solid thud in the Owlbear's skin. In response to the pain it lets out a terrifying screech to all those in earshot.
Bonus Action: Frightful Screech The Elder Owlbear lets out a piercing shriek. Each creatures within 120 feet must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened for 1 minute. A creature that is Deafened is immune to the shriek. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
Morjan, Tatts, and Herron all make a DC 16 WIS saving throw or become frightened. Can repeat the saving throw at the end of subsequent turns.
After the shriek it stamps its front feet on the ground and lowers its head before bursting forth in a charge.
Move: 35ft towards Tatts and Herron (S, S, S, SW, SW, SW, S)
As comes close to Tatts it lets out its bestial range with claws and beak.
He takes the two hits for 50 damage. [And is stoked he took the tough feat and not something else right now.]
Are the owbear's claws magical? I ask because of Heavy Armor Master because 6 HPs is a lot right now! :)
Can I have dropped my crossbow and drew my sword during my turn? If Not, I'm done, if so, he will riposte the Beak attack, w/ disadvantage because of frightened.
Morjan, seeing the situation get dire very quickly, shoots a small red bead behind the owl bear that explodes in a fireball. Morjan will position the fireball so that it only hits the owl bear and not Tatt.
Action: Fireball. Owl bear needs to make a dexterity save DC 15 or take 35+4=39 fire damage. On success it takes halve.

Fire fills the air, sending of tufts of leaves into a quick flame before dying out. The owlbear hoots in pain from the flames. But as it tries to avoid the brunt, you can see it seems hardier at avoiding spells than most creatures. Perhaps a relic from the rumors of wizardly origin for such creatures?

Tatt's sword slashes into the owlbear followed with acid settling into the wound. Before the owlbear can take stock, two arrows from Herron's bow lodge themselves in the fresh wounds.

Starting to stagger, the owlbear bats a claw out at Tatts, annoyed with his acidic presence, and breaks left before rushing at the one that had unleashed a burst of fire. It rears up and the crashed down towards the tiefling with claws and beak.
