Skameros struggles mightily with a crazed fury and 'swims' his way out of the creature, flopping to the ground beside it.
Beegred simply holds on to his weapons and continues to thrust them from the inside, shredding huge chunks free, causing the entire form to collapse into a huge puddle. The gnome flops down onto the ground, prone and unconscious.

Gelatinous Cube 2 @ -2 [VISCID GLOBBED]
ROUND: 2
Movement: K1 (TLC)
Action: Telepathic scream, "FLESH FOR THE FACELESS GOD!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With the remaining gelatinous cube trapped by a viscid glob, your party and the gnomes can dispatch it at your leisure.
(225 XP each)
The gnome merchants return to see your party standing beside the guard who introduces himself as Mev Flintknapper and is beyond grateful to have been saved. The other gelatinous cube is immobilized, occasionally blasting everyone with mental "FLESH FOR THE FACELESS GOD!". The gnomes are impressed!
Rodolfo sees the opportunity to begin to alleviate the hostility and the others do their best to follow his lead...
Skameros looks like a big angry wet shaggy dog, and smells like it again. He takes his lit torch and stands near the other cube that just keeps screaming about the faceless god and keeps poking it with the flaming end until he's satisfied mumbling something about fire for the faceless god. Then returns back to his party ready to follow them.
After the moment passes, the crowd disperses and the gnomes return to business as usual... while keeping a wary eye to the north. You gather yourselves, get some directions and head to the gates leading to the Rockblight (area 10).
The cave is fortified with barricades and defended by eight gnomes and four cave badgers. The doors are massive objects made of a mix of steel, mithral, adamantine and seems spelled in some way. As you approach, Gurnik stands from where he was waiting for your arrival, and another gnome approaches with him. Gurnik holds out a wide flat reddish gem as big as his palm, "This is the spell gem with the Hallow spell. All you need to do is place the gem in a gem socket in the menhir. There will be many to choose from. Any will do. Then defend the galeb duhr while the Hallow spell takes effect."
The other gnome looks your party up and down and says, "Father Gurnik here won't say what he promised to get you all to do that, but it doesn't matter. I know you're getting rewarded if you succeed and walk out of there. I understand how to tempt you to do some of my bidding too! So I have been in the rockblight with some squads before it was deemed off limits. You will come across some petrified beings in there. We're pretty sure a medusa has laired somewhere in there. If it were basilisks, there would only be pieces lying around, as they eat their victims. You come back with some information that can confirm the presence of a medusa, and it'll be worth 50 of your gold coins to each of ya. If you can bring back the medusa's head, I have a big fat well-cut diamond as big as my fist to reward you with. How's that for motivation?"
Beegred looks at the gnome's hand, and then his own hand. "How about a diamond as big as Skameros' fist?"
(After the likely response to that suggestion.) "Eh, it was worth a try."

The gnome guard looks at Beegred with disappointment before saying, "I'll stand beside you with the diamond. Your Skameros can stand a bit in the distance. He can hold up his fist... I'll hold up the diamond. That way it'll be bigger than his fist. And if it's not, then your Skameros can stand further back until the diamond IS bigger. If yer not happy with that, well it's the only diamond I got."
Rodolfo says, "You've been in there - is there a path we can stealthily take to get to the correct place? Or is it all equally treacherous? Also - if we need to win some time and run around, is there an area we can circle around in there?"
The gnome guard shakes his head, saying, "Most of our time was spent blocking off the Rockblight to form what is now Inner Blingdenstone, so we went mostly south. Once you're inside, if you go left, the tunnel is collapsed and that path is a dead-end. We only went further into the Rockblight in the very early days before we knew we couldn't depend on our elementals. We never fully explored or found Father Gurnik's temple."
After making your arrangements to be allowed back into Blingdenstone, gathering the spell gem from Father Gurnik and making your final preparations, the huge gates are unbarred and opened, revealing an identical second set of doors. A small contingent of gnome guards enter the space between the doors and wait for the doors behind to be shut and barred. Once again, the gnomes unbar and open the second set of huge stone doors, granting you access into the Rockblight. The huge doors are closed behind you and you hear the boom of the crossbar being dropped into place once again.
You find yourselves in a dark and cold cavern with a tunnel that goes left, which you've been told leads to a dead end. The cavern opens up to the right and as you travel that way, you find a pool of water of unknown depth blocks most of the passage. You hug the wall to go around it and once past, you find another cavern that mirrors the residential areas of Inner Blingdenstone, except there is no warmth or joy here — only darkness and signs of carnage.
Every step echoes against walls beyond your circle of light. The air is cold and damp, and you can hear a waterfall somewhere in the blackness, along with faint echoes of battle.
Regardless of what direction you face, or where you move to (nearby), the sounds of battle always sound like they are just beyond the darkness ahead of you.
Beegred turns to where Skameros was. "Should I scout ahead, since I am invisible to darkvision in the darkness?... Where did he go? Dammit, I was going to do that!" Beegred pouts, but stays close to the spell-casters for now.

Soon the mood shifts, and several merchants begin to gossip and ask for news, as the mood seems to be more neutral than hostile.
Rodolfo stays a bit to chat, but as soon as things are somewhat back in order nudges the others to move on.
"We have things to be doing I believe."
