Gram walked at a brisk pace heaving greatly with effort. The suit didn't really cause him much discomfort or was even that heavy form him but he knew how to keep up the Everyman persona he had been building for the past two weeks since coming into the city. He could hear yelling as he arrived at his destination he almost doubles over on himself loudly dropping his tools in frount of him. Steeling himself he looks up finally saying "sorry I'm late the foot traffic getting out here was brutal, and why didn't they tell us how heavy this stuff is. Hi I'm Gram nice to meet you all." He straightens himself and with a warm smile gives a small wave
Talya just rolls her eyes, a slightly bored expression returning to her face leaning back against the wall. She glances at the paladin, eyes critical, before smoothing out the delver suit on her arm.

DnD Beyond PbP Characters:
Tayla Varan, Water Genasi Monk:A licentious daughter of a licentious union, out to live and love in a war-torn world. Campaign:The Eagle's Eye Elsie Conway, Human Roguelike: A normal university student in a modern world, in the wrong place at the wrong time. Campaign:The Advent of Shadows
Ashley glances over toward Tayla, gives her a hard stare for a moment. Then, looking content, averts her attention to the new member that arrives quite loudly. She winces at the sound of the heavy tool drop, the piercing sound hurting her ears. She inwardly wonders a moment if people had any tact, but releases the thought as quickly as it came. "Gram, Ashley,"she says, introducing herself before pointing to the others. "Right there that's Tayla, Delight, Caelynn, and Overly-Enthusastic Man. He's overly-enthusiastic."
A small grin stretches across her face as she turns back to look at Wilgrim. Her gaze still is hard, but one could see it has flecks of jest in it, not malice. "You haven't missed much, so do not fear your tardiness. We've simply been taking the time to become acquainted with one another. Clarifying some things about our background."
She gives a pointed stare at Tayla, but once again, does not comment. "I'm sure we'll be departing soon however. I do believe that we are missing a member, but I do not see the harm in him or her catching up later. Every moment we stand here is a moment wasted somewhere else."
"And I'd like to be somewhere else as soon as possible."
"Overly Enthusiastic? Sure you could call me that, but I prefer Wilgrim" said with as deep a bow as possible from a gnome used to wearing chainmail and heavier
Ashley can't help but chuckle at the odd sight of the gnome bowing back to her. She feels like she was having a case of 'small man, big armor'. "Very well, Wilgrim. If that is what you wish to be called," she says back to him. "I don't suppose you know where our last member is. We don't quite have all day to wait for him or her."
Her eyes shift back to the sewer entrance, and she frowns. Quite an awful lot of people to shovel sludge in a sewer, she thinks to herself. Granted, she didn't imagine it would be a small feat, and she appreciated any help that she could get. But who hires a gnome, a water lady, and a handful of miscellaneous people to do a task that a group of strong, heady men could do themselves? Didn't they have professional sewage workers for this job?
"How long do the rest of you all want to wait?" she asks.
Observing the brief spat between Tayla and Ashley, Delight makes sure to stand clear of the two, admittedly somewhat amused at the incident, though she made sure not to let on to that. She wished no ill will to either, but it made for something to distract from the sewage situation at hand and Delight would do everything she could to be distracted from it.
"Now, I wouldn't say there's anything wrong with anyone's background, not to worry," she says with a smile. "It's true that we can't pick our birth circumstances whether fortune or not, but that's why we do what we can to make the best of it. Besides, at the end of the day, we're all still..." She gestures to the sewer entrance and lets the location speak for itself as the next member of the group makes his arrival. She makes a bow to the newcomer when introduced by Ashley.
"If we're waiting for one more, though," she comments to Ashley's question, "I see no harm in getting something of a head start here. The faster we finish, the faster we leave, and if that last individual arrives then they ought to be thankful for us finishing a chunk of the work for them." She chuckles playfully as she adds the last comment.
"I like this girl," Ashley tilts her head and smiles over toward Delight. "Allow me to buy you first drink when we return, Ms. Delight."
She shifts slightly in-place as Delight speaks about birthrights, and averts her gaze. The young woman falls quiet for a long moment, as if something had stole her tongue. "Yes, well," she says softly, her words audibly dampened. "About making the best of it. Eventually one tires of repetition. Sometimes one tires enough to the point they venture out and do something about it."
"I do concur though," Ashley says quickly, changing the subject. "I see no harm in proceeding forward as is. I'm certain there'll be plenty of muck to shovel out when our other member arrives. Not that I don't appreciate the excuse to wait, but I'd rather not bleed the cow out."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"That... is a good question," Ashley says, then looks back toward the sewers. "The supervisor didn't quite tell me exactly what he wanted; he merely said to 'clean the sewers'."
Ashley approaches the sewer entrance. Her nose turns up at the harsh stench of the human waste, but fights through it as she reaches the opening. She tilts her head and peers on inside, seeing what was in there. Her human eyes didn't allow her to see too far into the darkness, but she could hear quite well at least.
Ashley makes a Wisdom (Perception) check to attempt to see and hear inside the entrance. She has a +2 to Perception checks. As a Human, she lacks darkvision, and it's likely dim light leading into darkness inside the tunnel. Dim light imposes disadvantage on all Wisdom (Perception) checks to see inside. She cannot see into any darkness.
The first roll is for her hearing. The lower of the two rolls is for her sight, if there is dim light.
Ashley Alden makes a Wisdom (Perception) check! 6 | 15
Ashley's cunning hearing does indeed pick up something, but it was the elf behind her. "I was merely taking a peek," she defends herself.
She steps off to the side and allows her to look. Her mind begins to wonder how deep these sewers could be, how many endless mazes and turns and dead-ends the five of them could get lost in. The thought horrifies her, not just because of how disgusting it would all be, but the sickness and the disease and the slow, agonizing death they'd have in there.
She suddenly begins wondering how big the rats would be in there.
"I think they warned us about an open flame down here and I suppose we are supposed to be looking for some sort of blockage I'm pretty sure it's supposed to empty normally"
He begins to look though his tool box to see if he can find an alternate light source, perception 7
Wilgrim quickly stows away the tinderbox and candle looking a bit embarrassed for forgetting such a simple bit of instruction. He joins the group peering into the darkness.
(ooc) Sorry guys, quite stuck in family business this weekend. I am here. I rolled for Tabaxi obsession, next time I will do it here but, anyway, just to inform you that my character for this in-game week will have an obsession for a god or a planar entity. I saw the link on discord and joint the channel, we are going to use it for? :P
Cloud was already inside the sewer, she heard most of the words of his new companions, she was just waiting the right moment to say....."DAMN....friends...what are you gonna do?..if you wait more you will be covered by the next mud avalanche" She step forward the groups showing her long curly black hair and deep green eyes, the rest, covered by sewering gear "Caeylinn, good to see you, you know, I will follow you everywhere and this..." she add making a twirl and look around "Its not the best everywhere we got..."
"Uh..uh...yeah...and you know? we are going to meet the PitLord...hopefully, ahhh, the PitLord...never heard about him? Well...its a Lord so...he has Lord-stuff to do...but..he is worshiped by warerats, or big rats? Don't remember...but hey....I am hungry so...hopefully we could find at least....the big rats...you know what I mean..I don't think that, with cleaning the sewer, the commissioner was thinking about the mud...just think about it...ready to move on?...Uh...I am Cloud by the way, and you can call me....Cloud..i think...that's fine"
Ashley opens her mouth as Wilgrim begins handing her the candle. She closes it and frowns as Gram speaks. "Ah, oh dear," she says back to Gram. "I nearly forgot too. Good catch, my lad. Our little excursion could have ended quite a bit sooner than we expected."
She leans back in, listens for a moment. Her ears catch the sound of sloshing water, and she frowns. "Wait, I hear something," Ashley says, then stammers. "Dear gods, it sounds quite big!" She tenses up, prepares to reach for and draw the hidden dagger inside the bracer on her left arm. She relaxes at the sight of the tabaxi.
After she finishes talking though, after the massive gibberish that she spoke, Ashley was nearly back on edge. She wonders if one of the giant rats inside the sewer had grown sentience from the mad ravings of the woman, from mud avalanches to Pit Lords being worshiped by wererats to being hungry. She wonders if it was even physically possible to be hungry in such a filthy place.
"I... see," Ashley says slowly, before scratching the side of her head and looking at the others behind her. "I... am Ashley. That is Tayla, Delight, Caelynn, Wilgrim the Overly-Enthusiastic Mam, and Gram. I nearly wish Gram and Wilgrim swapped names, so I could say Gram, the Overly-Enthusiastic Man, but..."
"Enough talk. I don't see any point in waiting longer now," she sighs as she turns and enters inside the sewers.
Ashley enters inside the sewers. She does not have darkvision, so darkness acts as being heavily obscured for her. While in an area that is heavily obscured, she effectively suffers from the blinded condition when trying to see something in the area.
If Ashley is blinded, she can't see and automatically fails any ability check that requires sight. All attack rolls against Ashley has advantage, and Ashley's attack rolls has disadvantage.
However, she can still hear and pinpoint the location of creatures who are not hiding. Ashley's passive Perception is also 12, so any creature who attempts to hide and rolls a 12 or lower can be heard by her. She also is not surprised if a creature rolls a 12 or lower on Stealth and attacks.
"Right; anyone able to use a spear? I've got a spare if anyone wants it. Now, I think we can safely assume that we've been hired to get rid of those rats, and that suggests that said rats are unusually dangerous, so we should assume that that sewer is occupied by a hostile force, and prepare accordingly." So saying, I load my crossbow and move to the entrance, motioning for the others to fall in behind me.

Delight takes a few moments to process the new arrival's comments about rats and some Pit Lord or something of the sort. She tried for a moment to determine if she could place the term "Pit Lord" to anything in her memory that she might be familiar with, but decided it wasn't worth pondering much as if anything were to pose a threat in the sewers, rats would be the most likely candidate.
"I have a blade of my own if it ends up being needed," Delight answers Caelynn's offer of a spare spear. "Though if we see rats large enough that I actually have to use it, then... The size of this group would actually make a tad bit more sense for a 'cleaning' job." She shrugs and steps forward into the sewer, remaining behind Ashley, but ready to have this job over as quickly as possible.
"We've been hired to take out rats?" Ashley blinks and looks back toward the sewer entrance, but is only able to make out silhouettes from the darkness. She frowns and continues on forward. "Gods, why didn't they tell us before? That makes far more sense than shoveling man manure out of a sewer."
"I'd appreciate that spear if you can spare it," she calls out to Caelyn's offer. "I left most of my weapons at the tavern, on the premise that we were doing manual labor. I did not know we were here to exterminate things."
"By the way, as a side note. If any of you can see better than the blind 'rich' girl here, you're more than welcome to take the lead. It would actually be greatly appreciated."
