(Can someone remind me about the impressive-looking nature of the armor? Trying to decide if Soar would spring for the cool-looking armor. Also would Kaerus be able to work in the doom guide-Kelemvor’s aesthetic of Soar’s current armor?)
You should know your son is as prudent a businessman as yourselfJalt says A sword made for the tribute of Bahamut, perhaps you could find it in your heart to let happen for a lower fee?
Jalt, Kaerus smiles. It's been a few years since worked something in Bahamut's honour. Oh, he's well-liked in this city, but we've few dragonborn here and few humans who follow the platinum dragon. Sometimes I wonder how an old dwarf has managed to find himself in a kingdom surrounded by nothing but humans as far as the eye can see. No offense to you, sir, he says to Nate. Humans are fine folk, and Elturgard one of the greatest of their achievements.
Jalt, he turns back to you. I will craft this with my own hands, a gift to you and to the great one you serve. It would be my honour.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Soar, building upon Jalt's impeccable argument, will attempt to convince Kaerus to try to use some of the more solid pieces and skull-designed embellishments from her chainmail (at the shoulders, knees, elbows, etc) to build into her set of the Cyanwrath splint armor and thus drop the price even a bit... and he'd be able to also use the chain portion that wouldn't go with the split suit as material for future work.
Jalt returns the smile to Kaerus It is always humbling to find one who respects the great platinum god. Jalt extends his hand That is a fair deal, friend. We keep the look of the armor, as a symbol to those who dare follow the mantra of the cult.

Hoard of the Dragon Queen - Jalt Rhogar - Dragonborn Cleric (9)
Soar, Kaerus agrees to work in designs to the armour intended for you, to honour Kelemvor. He has designed and created armour for Doomguides before, and has some ideas, but he asks if there's anything in particular you want. He also says this will take an additional two days and thirty gold pieces for the work.
So, you are purchasing:
Armour for Jalt, costing 160 gold, taking two days. Armour for Soar, costing 190 gold, taking four days. Greatsword for Jalt, costing nothing, taking seven days.
Please adjust your character sheets accordingly, and tell me who is paying for what. If you don't have enough money check if another character will lend it to you.
"Ahem, oh no offence taken whatsoever, Mr. Kaerus sir."
Nate's standing off to the side in the back, watching intently to these transactions as he finds them most interesting. He's happy to see Soar and Jalt get new armor, and he thinks the Greatsword is going to be badass and wishes he could use a sword like that, but doesn't want to disrespect anyone, so keeps quiet. He also takes note of Soar's obsession with skulls, remembering about what she told him about doomguides and the like when they first met.
Is Soar paying for the armour that Jalt has requested? If not, Jalt may need to adjust the deal. (I'm not sure I remember - did Jalt and Soar ever discuss getting this armour?)
Is he taking any of the price off Soar’s splint from using her chain mail? If not, could she just sell it back used in a separate transaction? Just clarifying...
Soar is balking a bit at the price, but: she knows the sign of a master craftsman, she trusts Jalt, she doesn't want to mess up the deal he negotiated, and most importantly "ARMOR BUDDIES!"
The paladin blurts this out when Kaerus is waiting for her response. She turns to Jalt and gives him a big hug, ignoring the almost-certain grimacing near-tolerance the dragonborn displays at his colleague's exuberance. "We'll be twinsies! It's worth the price, don't you think?" She turns back to Kaerus. "We'll take it, thank you so much. When it's done I'll be happy to sell you this set of chainmail, since you said you do work with doomguides." She tries to trade a story or two about her chapterhouse and the armorer there, asking about the doomguides he's worked with.
(I just updated my sheet -- added Mondath's halberd to my inventory from notes, and I also had a note for her armor, which I can't remember if Soar grabbed when the governor returned the remains and Soar said she didn't want the heads. She probably didn't grab it if I don't even remember what kind it was.)
A fine piece, Kaerus replies, inspecting Soar's armour. Intricate designs. I would be happy to reduce the price by 40 gold for this. (That's slightly above half, because he likes the Doomguide designs).
But yes, as you say, you should keep it for now. When you are ready to receive the armour, we will make the exchange. And if you leave town, do let me know where to send it on.
Soar, you can mark of 150 gold for the new armour.
The elderly dwarf summons workers and describes the various items and tools that are needed to get underway, sending them running. He intends to supervise the project himself, as nothing else he is working on is of comparable interest. He hasn't exactly forgotten that you're all there, but you do get the feeling that he's keen to get underway, especially with the greatsword, and so you can take your leave.
You still have about half the afternoon. Is there anything more you want to accomplish in the city, or are you ready to head back to the inn?
Nate thought about trying to find a magic shop, but the day has been quite eventful enough already for him so he's happy to head back to the inn and see his fate with Ontharr and what might be next.
Soar will accompany anyone else to shops they wish, but she doesn’t have any particular shopping priorities of her own, the armor having taken a good chunk of her bank account. She will take a route back to the Inn that brings her close to the Companion. She wants to see it closer, both because she is drawn to it, but also because Nate has raised some good questions, so she will find some friendly people closer to it and strike up conversations with them about it. What they think about it. How amazing she thinks it is. Who made it really. How exactly it repels or destroys undead. Anything else they find interesting about it. All of these questions asked with her trademark exuberant sincerity, but a small percentage of her mind filing away anything dissonant to puzzle over later, and to report back to Nate and the others. She won’t spend more than an hour doing this, and then she will head back to the Inn for their meeting with Ontharr.
There's nothing much that Elspeth can think of that she needs, and since she doesn't have much enthusiasm for idly browsing wares she would propose that they head back to the inn as soon as possible for a good night's rest. It's been a while since they stayed for more than a day at anywhere and she intends to enjoy it.
Jalt, Elspeth and Nate return immediately to the inn. There you find no sign of Ontharr or Leosin at the moment, but the innkeeper is happy to give you a table and you pass a pleasant few hours talking and drinking. (Mark off at least 4 coppers for a drink, or more if you have it.)
Soar, the Companion hovers far above the city, so the only place that seems significantly closer to it are the towers of the large houses and the High Hall keep itself. Asking around, you find that one tower is set aside for visitors and religious travellers who wish to make prayers in the light of the Companion; a guard admonishes you to avoid looking directly at the Companion, but allows you to head up the stairs. You come eventually to an open area, perhaps sixty feet across, about seven storeys above the ground. There are six other people here, all apparently engaged in meditation or prayer to the Gods. The light of the Companion does not seem noticeably stronger here, but there are no coverings or shaded areas, so you are in full bright sunlight. Those in meditation and prayer ignore you, but eventually one pair of humans end their prayer and wave a greeting to you as they seem about to leave. If you would like to talk to them or the other people you find here, make a Persuasion roll to get the answers you seek.

It's the gold and purple colouring... He can put some symbols of Kelemvor - the result would be very... unique.

No, he's adding to the price because of the work involved. But you can sell chain mail for half of purchase price.
