There are different rules in the PHB (114) / basic rules (32)and DMG.  It costs a little bit of gold and some time but per the DMG (200) it destroys the scroll and only succeeds in being added to the spellbook on an arcana check    (DC 10 + spell level)

 Both require it to be a wizard spell. It isn't.

I failed to note that it was a non-wizard spell - how does bard end up with that one? 

I didn't really intend to do so, but Trin would want to try, his internal logic not being beholden to game mechanics.

1... Directly West from here is the goblins.

2... North and West from here is an unexplored tunnel.

3... the shute from the flesh-golem lightning trap lab.

North west gets my vote. 

Rurik is feeling clearing the immediate area to be done with back tracking—votes west for goblins.

(OOC the player however would prefer the unexplored route lol)

"My vote is for the chute" Trin chirps up.  "But maybe we should leave it to the Decisionist." He adds

Maximus chimes in, "I will follow the group, but I would also vote for the goblins. Either way we decide to go, my vote is always going to be to completely map out each level of dungeon. That is what we are here for is it not?"

Well it seems like we have 1 for the shute, one for the NW tunnel, and 2 for the West tunnel.  Your decisionist is back in waterdeep, so that isn't going to aid you here.  We going to go with the 2 for the unexplored Western tunnel, which the imp says leads to goblins?  Or do you guys wish to discuss and figure out what the group decides upon...

Stigr will shrug and send his imp to check out the goblins.
