Umbriel finds someplace to sit, and urges Lyngheid to come sit with him. He asks her to remove her boots, and rolls up his sleeves, ready to dispense one foot rub, as requested. He keeps his eyes open for the Watch Captain while playing the part of the weary traveler taking care of his companion.
Sure enough, shortly after 4, the person matching the description of Watch Captain Tholzar Brenner strolls down the road. He's accompanied by 8 rough looking, well armed and armored humans.
Brenner and his group don't seem to take any particular notice of you.
If no one does anything, Brenner continues on and disappears around the corner.
Whistler and Owlbear try to communicate to each other about who can have the last piece of meat. Owlbear wins.
Ha!
OK, where to for the night? Back to the inn? Another 3 gold for rooms and board, or if you want a nicer inn there are other options.
And then back to the Waterbaron in the morning? If so, whoever is doing the talking, state your case for an audience with the waterbaron and make a [Tooltip Not Found] roll as appropriate, with advantage due to help!
Umbriel will make his case, flaunting his Lord's Alliance pin on his upper left chest area. When it comes time, he will say "Good day, madam. I am Umbriel Ashenboot, a member of the Lord's Alliance as of our group's involvement in the matters concerning Phandalin and an ancient artifact. In the interest of good order and discipline, as well as the continued prosperity of the Realm, we wish to discuss a matter of grave, titanic proportions, and enlist your aid in our efforts to secure the prosperity and peace of the region."
Baeshra will follow the captain to his home, listening for any useful discussions between him and the guards on the way.
Stealth: 19 Perception: 15
You follow the captain and his entourage for about 10 more minutes at a leisurely pace. Finally they enter what appears to be an old warehouse that has been renovated into living quarters. A guard that was already there greets them at the door, and one of the guards from the entourage posts up at the doorway after everyone goes inside. He's definitely keeping watch.
You overhear quite a bit. A female member in shiny chainmail was trying to talk to Captain Brenner about work related items, but he brushed her off, apparently not interested as he is off the clock.
Two other guards are talking about a new flavor of brew at one of the local establishments, and a third keeps trying to talk everyone in to some sort of card game tonight.
You don't hear anything else useful, and it doesn't appear as if you've been noticed.

Persuasion (with advantage for the help): 19
The secretary sighs and grants you an audience with Waterbaron Nestra Ruthiol. You can tell he is disappointed that you were so persuasive.
The whole party is introduced to Waterbaron Ruthiol. She is a female Tethyrian human, who looks to be in her late fifties. After you explain your case Waterbaron Ruthiol nods. "Very well, Cloak Ashenboot. Brenner has been a thorn in my side for a while now. Thank you for bringing this issue to my attention."
She snaps her fingers and a well dressed servant rushes out the door.
Not long after, the servant returns with a rather ornate looking Greatsword and hands it to Waterbaron Ruthiol. She looks it over then gives it to Umbriel.
"Here you are, Cloak. I trust you all will put it to good use."
Once we leave the Waterbaron, Umbriel will present the greatsword to Whistler. "I feel you would make better use of this than I would."
To the group, he says "It would seem we have three choices, which lead in three different directions. There is a dragon to the west, a Dwarf on the run and a reward of 5000 gold to the north, and presenting ourselves to the king and queen at Citadel Felbarr, in the east. I think we may get more answers and have an easier time of it if we have royal backing, but old promises and lots of coin bear keeping in mind as well. I vote east, but I will go where the group wills it."
Ireniana turns to the rest of the group. "I think we should head to Citadel Felbarr. Giants attacking the lands is something they'd want to know. We could have some potential allies in this journey. We might lose the reward opportunity in the north, but there's always more gold. I'm fine with what the group chooses, but I vote east."

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Ohh where did I find you people! How far north do we have to travel, that is a kings ransom. We could rebuild a village for that and still have money left over to start our own inn. Look I am not saying that cities and the east isn't important but just think of how we could equip ourselves with that much gold..."Nyx clicks and rolls a gold coin through her fingers that appears out of nowhere.

Nyx's coin does indeed appear out of nowhere, although a few sharp eyed party members notice her palm it in preparation for the sleight of hand.
Baeshra gives Nyx a puzzled look, "Why were you hiding that coin in your palm? In any case, I'm good with any direction, but I think having the coin would save us backtracking later as we're most likely to find things to spend it on in Felbarr and though we could face the dragon, I think the giant's are more pressing."

Lyngheid looked surprised, she pointed at Umbriel, " This ones a keeper, Ladies and Gents."
" Bit tall and male for myself, but still....."
She kept her own eyes on the road as she chuckled.
