Left harbor at 2:00 PM on the second day, second month of Winter. The dwarves made many jokes and toasts of good fortune before setting off. These celebrations were not to last.
The ship ride was long. Even with the minor creature comforts offered in Lhargh Llur, the entire point of the expedition was to gain money, not spend it on drinking and making the trip there bearable. The ship went slowly up the river, never passing more than trees and fog, for three days. At least you all have your own rooms, and meals were served there.
2:00 PM Arriving at the Elf port, it actually got a little worse for most of you, except Irenia...
You are welcomed by the local Elves as one of them. You are able to interact with them if you so chose on a friendly level, allowing trade, transport, and other possibilities. They are enamored with your story, and know who you are from watching you fight in Lhargh Llur. Many of them have never gone beyond that harbor, and those who traveled that far have done so only for the day, never spending longer than a few hours docked.
2:00 PM For the rest, the elves coldly pointed to the awaiting canoes and guide. A dark long cloak flowed from the elf waiting silently for you at the front of the several extremely well carved wooden row boats. He is hooded, and does not reveal his face. Those of you who get off the ship immediately get in the canoes and wait. (about 3 hours) Those who stay on the ship are allowed to do so until just before sundown and then escorted off, directly to the same canoes.
5:00 PM At dusk, the cloaked canoe guide sets out, lanterns shining brightly ahead, leading you all through the narrow river.
7-10:00 PM There are several times you encounter forks in the water way, and the guide expertly navigates you through them, even in the fog.
11:59 PM After awhile you begin to understand that you have experienced being unwelcome in this place, yet you can now understand what being an enemy would look like...
...being sunk up river, in the dark, in a fog covered forest...surrounded by Wood Elves.
3:00 AM The night bores on, and you are glad of the attached ropes to the guide's boat, pulling you along. Some fell asleep, while others simply lost sight of the guide in the dense river mists. On and on the paddle turns in the waters, never losing even the slightest amount of speed nor gaining even a slight amount of haste.
7:00 AM Finally, the dawn breaks and a small dock comes into view. It is only large enough that one person may disembark at a time, but there's only a few of you so it doesn't take long. The guide leans off his ship giving you each a -unique- small piece of carved wood and points to the human guards at the edge of the dock before leaving. The guard on the right takes each of the pieces and the guard on the left marks your image on a drawing tablet quite fast and expertly for a dock guard. They tie your canoes to trees near the shore and promise no harm will come to them. There are other canoes tied to other trees, and you can see a box containing more of the small wood pieces. After about an hour so everyone's finished up and they wave you all off as you walk into the trees.
8:00 AM Another couple of hours or so, and you should be there. Might be a good time to go over the report...
Report:
Underneath the orange glow of a dying candle lantern, strolled a tall man. He was old, but not frail. Though the fog was never-ending, and the cobblestones always cold, this man was quiet content. He walked confidently in an affluent display, well dressed. He was an investor with more than a little bit of arrogance who has come to "finish this town." He tugged at his jacket, looked to the sky, and kept walking as the rain began to fall.
Miles away, the rain had already arrived hours earlier. A young man and woman argued in the upstairs of a two story house. Back and forth their shadows bounced across the window in the same orange candle light, the occasional object obstructing their forms. A thunder clap split the scene and a flash from the lightning paused the tirade. When it resumed it wasn't long before it escalated once again to violence, shortly before a scream of agony! A wisp of air blew out the candle, and the heavy pounding of panicked feet down wooden stairs was heard. In the darkness of the storm, hooves hit the unpaved muddy road, and the front door of the house slammed back and forth in the hurricane wind.
Inside the window of the tavern, a well kept dwarf looked on as he stirred a perfectly seasoned stew. Chunks of potatoes and carrots were joined by chopped beef and celery; all of which was well complimented by the salt and heavy pepper. He thought to himself how terrible it would be to have to travel in this weather, and how he would gladly serve even the poorest guest this night.
No sooner had he thought so, than he walked into the tavern a soaking wet man, near out of breath from hurry. He begged the inn keeper for a bowl of soup, and was obliged. He took a seat near the window, and stared longingly to the South. A few minutes later, another man approached. He too was soaking, but had a fierce anger in his eyes. He asked for a glass of powerful alcohol, downed it in a single gulp and repeated thrice. On the last, he asked for a blanket, and sat by the fire, staring into it.
In the morning, the smoldering ashes of the tavern were subject to investigation. The tavern keeper was interviewed, and the guard returned to town. The captain said it was more than that town could handle, and posters were distributed as far as the sea.
10:00 AM Still about an hour left, might be a good time to meet your fellow...“investigators.”
During the first day of boat trip to Lhargh Llur, around 1:00 PM, Tyriel walks onto the deck of the ship to see if there's anything interesting to see or if there are people on the deck.
During the first day at 2 p.m. at the docks, Irenia listens to everyone discuss her fights and gives a mild "thank you," before focusing on the others at the dock.
At 10 a.m. on the second day, Irenia reads the report and goes over to the scene. She asks the officers if there were any bodies in ashes.
Irenia is unable to procure the knowledge from the guards outside the report, it appears they don't know anymore than that.
Tyriel looks a small walk away from the tavern and spots a trampled bush that has been smashed by the hooves of some creature.
Elisha is able to deduce that the creature was a horse, and not a goat or deer, judging by the weight and stride. It was probably carrying two people or one very large person as even for a horse its hoof prints are very deep.
Tyriel walks over to Elisha and taps her shoulder. "Hey! So, looking around, I found hoof prints, so I'm guessing that the person was on some sort of horse."
Genesh during the first day at the docks around 2 p.m. ignores the cold looks and stares being used to such reactions. The Tortle will climb into one of the canoes and quickly pulls out hisFishing Tackle and spends the next three hours fishing...Survival21 as he waits, who knows, maybe he'll get lucky catch some fresh fish to snack on.
Later on, when the group finally reaches the burned-out inn Genesh will castDetect Magic so with it active he will proceed to nose around Perception7 the smoldering ashes whatever else may be left in and around the area.
Irenia turns to everyone else and holds up one of her crooked fingers from many years of boxing. "I'm Irenia Falfaren. It's always good to have more heads in an investigation."

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Elisha nods at Tyriel and he will say: "Aye there was a horse at the scene and it seemed to have a large person on it or multiple heavy riders on it. Look how deep the tracks are. What did that report say about a man and woman arguing followed by screams and the sound of hooves afterwards? Do we know where that house was located and if the couple are still there?"
Tyriel looks around. "I don't know if there was anything about the couple hearing hooves. But, I bet, if we follow the tracks, it'll lead us right to the perpetrators.""Abandoning the idea of finding anyone who saw the fire, Tyriel nodded ahead and started to follow the tracks of the horse.
(2:00 PM) Line in, the easy going nature of the water lends itself well to fishing. Though the dwarves and elfs squabble, it is far from the river's surface, and the hook lay undisturbed for less than enough time to grow bored. Powerfully something tried to surprise the Tortle by yanking hard, pulling the canoe close to sink before whipping it around. Genesh was prepared, however, and began to battle the beast. Near the end of the second hour, and consequently just as everyone was ready, you managed to land a massive Northern Pike. You pull the beast into the boat and inspect it before making it dinner.
Genesh only...
The fish was huge and swollen like it had swallowed something before eating your bait then come for the worm as an after dinner snack. You smack that scaly swimmer and it coughs up a "river treasure” gemstone. You are unsure of what it is, but its that same dull olive green as the water. You feel this gem has something special to it, but you aren't sure of what.
(10:00) Genesh's perception does not lead him to anything, nor does his detect magic, it does however...
Genesh only...
That gemstone of yours is magical, not just special. There's an aura around it strong enough that a magic user of significant strength should know just from being near you that you possess it.
(10:00 AM) Like Genesh before him, Tyriel's investigation appear fruitless. While looking for the people that were around at the time, he finds that nobody is out right now. The town is more or less open, but everyone is in their shops. The tavern keep is also missing, but you can imagine he didn't just want to sit next to a pile of ash waiting for someone to help.
In a similar, but unfortunate, turn, Tyriel wanders about the woods near the broken bushes. He is unable to find the tracks in the ground passed some more bushes where it appears like the beast was startled, wandered about in a few directions, then took off back towards the tavern or in some otherwise indistinguishable direction.
Irenia only manages to see the hoof prints as Tyriel and Elisha did. You get the feeling that there are no footprints not made by the six people currently walking around, which is odd as there should be guard's feet, tavern-keep's feet, and even the two suspect's pairs of feet. Perhaps its just been too many days and the frequent moisture in the air destroyed them. The horses were still around because they were so deep, but those too disappeared.
Olwer finds 1 burned down building, 2 open buildings with 3 open shops each (total 6), a street lantern and the end of both sides of the cobblestone path. He did not, however, find the house in question.
