Cannot access the Doom spell even though I have bought the book. When accessing it from a link within the cleric subclass section of the book it just links me to the book's page in the marketplace. My entitlements are in Sync.
This seems to be the case for all spells from the book. They are inacessible from tooltips or by clicking their links.
I've filtered for Cthulhu by Torchlight in classes, feats, spells, etc, and the only content I can view are the monsters. Everything else redirects me to the marketplace.
Adding on to the issue. Same as everyone else, all entitlements synced, all partners selected, and no subclasses or anything else showing up in character builder. Subclasses don’t even show when looking at the classes themselves.
Putting this out there as well. The only way I can view the subclass and magic items is to view them on the mobile app. I can't add them to my character sheet or view them on PC.
Strange thing for me, the Subclasses from Cthulhu by Torchlight are appearing on my Classes tab under "Cthulhu by Torchlight" as if they were their own classes. It's possible they've been set as Classes in the backend (site data), but also don't appear as such in the character builder.
This post is about a couple of errors and surprising wordings that I have seen in the Cthulu by Torchight new book: 1- In chapter 3, cleric subclass, Lvl 17 feature; "Life Beyond Death" it read: When you or an ally within 120 feet of you is about to make a Death Saving Throw, you can expand a spell slot Should be "expend"
2- In chapter 4, Summon Shadow Level 5 Conjuration (Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard) has a material component with a *. There is no precision about what the component is in the spell description. Needs to be added unless I missed it somewhere?
3- In chapter 4, Feline Chaos Level 5 Conjuration (Bard, Druid, Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard) is lacking an area of effect. I don't believe it is supposed to be a 120ft radius effect :D
Surprising wordings: - In chapter 4, The spell Create Mist of R’lyeh Level 1 Conjuration (Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard) does not specify if the caster would be affected in the area while the Red Sign Level 6 Conjuration (Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard) explicitily says so. Why specify it in one but not in the other? By the general rules of spellcasting the caster could be affected by their own AOEs. Following this, the level 6 specification that the damage does not break concentration should stay but the précision that the caster suffer the damage is unecessary.
The Spell Fist of Yog-Sothoth Level 4 Conjuration (Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard) is an auto deal 8d6 damage. The save is only meant for the prone condition which is a very minor type of condition. Half damage would be expected.
Thank you for fixing these things. Love the new book otherwise :) T.
I haven't even tired to make a Character yet, but have any of you looked at the spell descriptions? Some of them have some serious polish/balance issues... Breath of the Deep and Feline Chaos in particular caught my eye...
Breath of the Deep is a 2nd level 120ft, No Saving Throw single target Silence that lasts for 1 minute or until concentration is broken... Arch Mage? Lich? get wrecked... LOL
Feline Chaos (5th level spell) on the other hand doesn't actually specify how many targets or an area of effect... it just says "Each target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or be affected by this spell for the duration." ... Ok? But how many a targets? its a 120ft range... but doesn't have an area of effect? is it all creatures within 120ft??? I guess they really meant the Chaos part of this spell.... LOL
I'm going to keep looking... but it might be a good thing people can't actually access this content yet... Needs some revision and Fixes ASAP!
Hey, I agree with you that Feline Chaos is missing a bit :D
For Breath of the Deep (which lasts up to 10 minute), it only prevents verbal spells. While I would probably discuss it with the players if it would make sense to be able to affect a lich with a drowning spell (undead not caring much for breath :D). I'm not too freaked about this spell especially because 2024 mosnters have attacks and effects that are not verbal spells.
To use your exemples: An archmage has a default 3 reactions counterspell against this effect. Also, their main damage output comes from their 4 attacks per turn that don't require Verbal component (+9 to hit, 4d10+5 force). Which can be used to break the spellcaster concentration or simply murder them.
A Lich has infinite counterspells against this spell. While they would be sad not to cast stuff... A lich also has 3 attacks per turn one of which has a no save PARALYZE effect (no verbal component required :) of course). They legendary actions don't require verbal component either.
Not to mention their lairs or home which could be plentiful of henchmen, traps, or helpful toys that do not require verbal component.
Maybe a fix if you really fear it is to exclude types of creatures or go back to asking for saves. Options I would consider is give immunity for: - undeads or non breathing creatures - creatures above a specific CR - creature of a specific size (Large and above?)
Regarding the auto-hit nature of some of these spells, the book does specify it is intended:
Spell Descriptions
The following spells draw on the mythos and themes. While they are balanced with existing spells, many don’t allow saving throws. Their damage is designed with this in mind, much like Magic Missile. The spells intend to capture the horrid, inevitable nature of the mythos. Most ofthem rely on Concentration as a central mechanic, forcing the spell’s target to harm or defeat the caster to end an effect.
Dread Curse of Azathoth is basically a 3-turn Power Word Kill that can be removed by breaking Concentration or by Remove Curse or Greater Restoration
The distinction is necessary. For the first spell, you're creating an area on a point you see, so if you enter the area you receive damage like any creature entering the area. The Red Sign is a spell with a range of Self and it's basically works as an emanation, so it specifies you're included in the target of the spell because emanations normally don't include the caster.
Hello, It's me again, I've spotted another typo in the Mythos:
Chapter 6 - Book of Dzyan. In the benefits section, it reads: "Simply touching a wall or object unless you to detect secret doors or similar hidden compartments built into that object within 5 feet of you." Probably should be "allows"?
I've been told the Cthulhu access issues should be fixed! You may want to check your entitlements again to be safe, but please let me know if you're still having any trouble.
It is semi-fixed for me. I can now see an access all subclasses EXCEPT the sorcerer and the wizard one. For some reason those 2 only do not pop up, on the same character sheet in the same campaign. Strange.

Current Characters I am playing: Dr Konstantin van Wulf | Taegen Willowrun | Mad Magnar
Check out my homebrew: Items | Monsters | Spells | Subclasses | Feats
Classes are not working
Adding on to the issue. Same as everyone else, all entitlements synced, all partners selected, and no subclasses or anything else showing up in character builder. Subclasses don’t even show when looking at the classes themselves.
Another one here with the same issues as other posters. I can access the sourcebook and the monsters, nothing else.
Strangely enough, I can find the Fingerprint Kit and the Witchboard just fine, but none of the tomes appear when adding itens.
Same as everyone above. Can't see the subclasses from the book.

I'm following up with the devs about the access issues.
For any questions or concerns about the book's rules, wording choices, typos, etc.: the project lead, Mike Mearls, was looking for feedback in this other thread.

Hello! I was looking over the classes, and the only ones not showing up for me is the Sorcerer and Wizard.
