Shadar-kai. What is the translation into common? Or is that the translation? These elves from the Shadowfell call themselves "Shadar-kai". They self-identify with the name itself. It's not just a name that outsiders have come up with to call them. What does "Shadar-kai" mean?
If I had to guess Shadar is their word for Shadow. Kai could be their word for elf or it might just be a clan name since if I recall they were once ruled by the Queen of Ravens before she became said Queen of Ravens.
Kai is the elven word for skin in the forgotten realms, but the elven word for Shadows is Shil
Aka, the shadar'kai weren't even originally elves, the name was originally for humans, then fey, then elves. The term is likely a mix of ancient netherese and elvish ending up as Shadow'skin

And perhaps, "Chosen of the Shadowfell"
I'd guess the most simple translation would be Shadow Fey, since that's what they are
