I am a first time DM looking for a DND oneshot to run with 3 players. I've got minimal experience as a player and only one of my players has experience playing. My players will prob. be more interested in the role-playing aspect bcs they're a bunch of theater kids lol. Any recommendations?
If you have no campaigns, think of something like a crime where the players will encounter more people to talk to or things to investigate than they will have things to fight. If they enjoy role-play, your best bet is always to plan for more talking, information gathering, etc.
Here's a plot hook that you could build a one shot around: The players have ended up broke and out of money whether they were robbed or spent most of it; however, a noble has come to them and requires some people to investigate a crime committed against his house. The players will have to skulk around and seek out information to try and track down the criminal who did this (a simple ground of bandits who stole from the noble). You could use the idea of being more like detectives than mercenaries if that helps any. I don't have anything written down so that's the best I can do right now.
I personnaly enjoy taking one page dungeons from https://www.dungeoncontest.com. I find the one that fits more my needs and adapt it to the levels of the players and to give them a challenge.
