Players will likely not remember their character’s abilities so maybe a holodeck-kinda thing for sample combat. That way they get the feel of playing their characters again without it counting. For story, can do a cinematic summary of events leading up to the present, complete with maps and handouts as a refresher. I would anticipate a bit of patience being needed til they get back in the groove, and for you too if you haven’t been running games in awhile.
You could ask the players to recall what happened last you played, they probably remember the things and moments that meant the most to them.
You could make your own cinematic recap in your session-prep as MikeyTheKeat stated, start the session by asking them to recap for you and then improvise what they said into your cinematic summary.
Start with a sesssion 0. It’s been a long time, everyone probably needs a refresher on table rules, discussion of wether or not to use Tasha’s/Mordenkainen‘s race options, maybe even on how to play. While there ask if they’re still interested in the old campaign. After such a long break, it might be best to start a new one. Or if everyone does want to continue, make sure they want to keep those characters. There’s been lots of new subclass options, maybe they want something new.

I'm liking the holodeck idea, thinking a one shot story releated that could be a shared dream. Currently working on a synopsis for a refresher.

I'll use their info to make stuff from my refresher. Then I'll mix in any of the forgotten plot points that could come back around.

None of them are races from those, but that is a very solid point. We all invested a bit in this one with commisioned maps and character art, but we are definatly going to come back with care.
If you wrapped it up well, you could always start with the party being released from petrification. This would explain them being a bit clunky and forgetful, and you can start or continue from there - they could even have forgotten how they got petrified!
As title says, any advice for picking up a game after a 15 month break?

Thank you all for the advice.
