So me and my players decided to move worlds. Long story short we are moving the characters from faerün to some world that's kinda like the witcher explained with "another random conjunction of the spheres that took them there".
The question is what should i do about the cleric's current god? Obviously the gods in the witcher universe are different and i was curious if any of you had any ideas how to incorporate her now worshipping a different god that has the same ideals into the story. (She's ok with it btw so long as it's the same gameplay wise.)
"Her current god talks to her in her dream that "where she's going he doesn't have any influence so he's passing her on to another that will be her guardian."
Do exactly what real people did in ancient times. The important thing is what the god stands for. They simply equated their local god to the foreign god.
So, Bel (Sumerian) correlates to Amun (Egypt), then Zeus (Greek), and then Jupiter (Roman). All of these cultures had different beliefs but honestly nobody really cared. These are GODS! They are going around doing stuff all over the place, and local myth or belief could never be the same across these distances.
You can invent a new god, and it can simply be her god from Faerun, but it can have a new name and a new existence in this plane.
She can become the prophet of her god in the new world. This is her chance to spread the faith of the god and increase the god’s worshippers and raise up churches in her god’s name.
And if she gets branded as a heretic by the existing religions, there’s piles of plot hooks right there.

That's my only idea so far and it seems weird.

Thanks for the advices! I'm going to go with the same god different name idea because they'll all be heretics behind the light of the eternal fire.🤫
