I have an important character imprisoned by an efreeti, if they offer something valuable enough, would the efreeti actually release them?

I'm with Wlyr, I would see them as keeping their bargain but making it something very tough or unfair to do.
I had something similar in my campaign where the PCs were too low level to defeat him, as well as what he asked them to do I also added a "and you owe me a favour" clause which is undisclosed, so I can bring him back at some point in the future
Alright, thanks for the help, I'm forcing the players to give up a plot artifact, or at least 1/20 of it (don't ask it's resolved now)

Efreet are lawful evil, so as long as the efreeti thinks the deal is fair, they might release the prisoner. But if you as a DM think that keeping them imprisoned is better, then go with it.
Depends on the individual efreet, I suppose, on how honourable or not they are. Efreet are Lawful Evil, meaning they may feel honour-bound to keep a promise - they just don't make such promises lightly.
Efreeti are lawful evil, as are devils. So I would expect an agreement with one to follow similar tropes as a "deal with the devil" which means that such an agreement might:
Be painful to the players (give up something important, have them do something against their nature, etc)
have loopholes they can exploit to the Efreeti's advantage
be concerned about the "letter" of the law/agreement than the "spirit", especially if it can be used for the Efreeti's advantage (for a good example of this, read the flavor quote for marids in the Monster Manual about the halfling who wished for immortality). In OPs case, if the Efreeti agreed to "release" the prisoner, that could mean setting them free (releasing from imprisonment), dropping them off a cliff (release from its grasp), killing them outright (releasing them from the mortal coil), or letting the party borrow the prisoner (re-leasing) and taking it back shortly thereafter.

Yes, they are lawful. They would drive a completely unfair bargain (for being evil) but would live up to their end of it
Up to DM wether a promise is kept or not. Efreet are deceptive, cunning, and cruel to the point of ruthlessness, yet regard their race as fair.
Personally I'd decide if it does or not based on it's motives and what's most fun for the campaign story or determine it randomly if i can't decide ☺
