Hey folks! Happy Thursday or Friday depending where you are!
I was hoping to get some input, ideas, or links for some super small one encounter sessions I can throw my players after our session zero, as I have a few newbies and I want to basically do a small tutorial. I'm hoping for something a little more fleshed out than just throwing them in a fight with some goblins with some fun/silly narrative. All responses are much appreciated! Thanks!
The One Page Mage has some great stuff for free that suit low levels and introductory games. Try the Nestled Waters L1 or Curse of the Pyramid L1 free adventure or The Sordid Festival if you prefer L3. Finally there's A Haunted Heart which is for a single L1 player. I've found it an excellent one for introducing new players because it uses all the elements from not only combat encounters but some role play, skill checks, puzzle solving and basic magic as a L1 Wizard.
Most seasoned players prefer to start games no lower than L3 because L1-L2 are seen as the beginner levels. Thats true to a very good extent, they generally don't need to worry about sub classes or a lot of rules that stack on to the class, sub-class or with feats and higher level spells and spell slots, so it's a great way for new players to get the hang of play.
