So I an reading through the DofMM in prep for having some players get in there. I am trying to figure out room 21 of level 2 (the Arcane Chambers). This is a 95 ft long hallway with two animated Ballistae at the west end. Seems simple enough.
Here is where I lose the thread: each Ballista has blindsight out to 120 ft. So, they should be able to see anything in the hallway, which is perfectly straight and empty.
But the text says " The ballistae can’t perceive (and thus they ignore) creatures that keep to the easternmost 60-foot section of the hallway" . I am assuming they mean for players to make it most of the way down the hall, and then the ballista starts firing. But if they back up to 30 ft away from the ballista, are they invisible to it, despite being in their perceptual range?
I can work around it but I feel like I am missing something in the intent.

1 square = 10 feet.
Have I been reading all my damn maps wrong!?!
Seems like every map is 10 foot squares (don’t quote me on that. I only checked first 8 maps). These maps are freaking huge.
