I have created this npc who the players meet. She is a kind elf women who can use high level healing magic as cantrips, so thats fun. when i first used her in one of my games the players seem to take a liking to her. she was extremely kind, and choose not to hurt anything so when it came to her turn she would only heal. She had her own likes and dislikes, so when the party did something like torture someone she would get upset and they would be sorry cause they really liked this npc. For the most part she tried not to sway the outcome of the layers choices, would consider this a dm npc?
I think you mean to ask "is this a DM PC?" All NPC are run by the DM.
It doesn't sound like this is a DMPC. It sounds like a helper/companion/ally NPC. The difference is a DM PC will influence party decisions, is often a higher level, and/or saves the party from TPKs regularly. Basically a DMPC is the secret (or sometimes obvious) main character and the PCs become supporting characters.
