I'm designing a dungeon to use for my players(working under the assumption that they'll be level 8 when they reach the dungeon). Its backstory is that it is a desert temple made by the yuan-ti dedicated to an unnamed serpent god destined to consume both the sun and moon. As such, I've decided to introduce a cool puzzle mechanic based off of the game Celeste's Core stage. Creatures will be able to change the temperature of the temple via large stone daises/wheels (they can only make the temple blisteringly hot or blisteringly cold, not anywhere in the middle). Are there any good puzzles that can be constructed from this basic premise?
Underground lake with several fountains feeding the lake. A locked vault door on the other side of it, no keyhole. Crank the heat up to evaporate the lake and reveal an underground passage to a fight/skill challenge that opens the door above. Freeze the room to allow the fountains to fill the lake back up and freeze it to get across.

Perhaps they find a square block of some substance and they need to fit it into a mold (to make a key perhaps).
Turn the Heat up to melt the block, pour it into the mold, crank to cold and now the key is solid?
Simple, yet, satisfying.

That's an honestly great idea. Why didn't I think of this sooner?

Maybe this doesn't work.
This is very Zelda-esque.
Glad I could help... :) I'm always trying to brainstorm new trap and puzzle ideas.
