Hi :) I'm currently running a wild west theme and in my last session after saving an tribe from a evil witch doctor my characters were given a dream tea where each player had a vision. In the vision the character either saw something that could potentially happen, was going to happen or saw a message from their god. This allowed me to drop some clues of what's to come in the campaign and each player got to be in the spotlight.
I would love to do something again in the future that gives each player a moment, does anyone have any ideas?
So an idea would be a hooded figure attack or save the party then escape leaving only a clue linking to one of the players then in a later encounter the hooded figure attacks or is attacked and they have a conversation with the players and revealing some of their motives and say something to the player they are linked to then have them attack or meet with the party one last time where they drop the hood or mask or whatever revealing the character’s lost or dead sibling/teammate/parents or something similar then fully explain their motives to kill/help them

Split the party. Or let them split themselves in a town. And then things happen.

(Hey, you joined on my birthday!)
Anyways, you could just have a certain creature refer to one of the players in an encounter, either combat or roleplay, and you can just make a mystery that builds on that comment, and eventually turn into a whole plot event.
Example, witch in the woods giggles every time she looks at a character.
Later, a cleric reveals that the character is cursed to die in a terrible way.
Finally, the player dies alone, or is tortured to death, or brain eaten or something, and they can either stay dead, or be resurrected, or reincarnated.
