So is it like Blades in The Dark, you fill out your characters inventory and skills when you approach a task and role play a backstory of how you got the skill tool or do they have amnesia.
Characters having secrets that only the DM knows at first is fine and can lead to good role-playing scenarios, assuming there is a reason the character (and hence player) doesn't know them. But basic stats and things? I see two problems. First, surely a character would know they are relatively strong but maybe not as nimble as their ally who is clearly smarter and so on. Such basic knowledge about yourself is essentially what the statistics on the character sheet capture. Second, players will often want to play as a certain kind of character so could be disappointed or annoyed when they discover they are not the kind of character they want to play.
Well, a one-shot is a way of trying stuff out and seeing if everyone enjoys it, so I guess anything goes!
Maybe you could start with at least a rough description of the available characters and allow players to choose among themselves which ones they want to play.
Stuff like investigation would be fine. You have a look but you are pretty blind so have -3 or something.
But for combat would you dump all their combat on them on the first one or how would you reveal it. As after that there isn't really any mystery left and you are just playing a premade char....
I like the concept, just how to get it to work and stay interesting past the first few encounters...

I found this idea for a one-shot and I wanted to run it by fellow DM's to see if it might be a good idea.
The DM starts with fully filled character sheets, and the players have blank ones. They only discover their stats and stuff when they become relevant.
It sounds like it could end very badly/great, but I just needed to know so that I can plan ahead or change anything for it. Thanks!!
