I am a first time DM and my players do not like Roll 20. We use live maps. I am about to go into Chapter 2 and about to have them explore map 2.1 and trollskull manor (appendix C). The 2.1 map is basically 72 x 50 with each square measuring 10 ft per square. How do I translate that to a dry erase map that is 46 x 32. Or how did anyone else do it some of these maps are huge. Also I know I will have similar issues when the get to the dungeon of the mad mage levels
Maybe have two maps. One is a smaller scale map off-screen or something you can put over the whiteboard for viewing sakes that show the party where they went and where to go next on their journey. Then when they go into a room for combat or puzzle or something of interest translate that room onto your whiteboard to a proper scale.
