My PCs have just finished a major event and I want to throw them into something lighter for a session. They'll have two options I present them (and of course they can do anything else they'd like, but as we all know PCs tend to go with what's in front of them). One of them involves pursuing a suspicious person into a catacomb beneath a pretty well maintained city graveyard, and that's one I'd appreciate input on to make interesting/build up their tensions and such.
Now the twist ultimately is that they don't have to fight the suspicious person at all - so they're not a BBEG unless they do - and most of this catacomb is just that: a crypt with bodies spanning generations and such. Not evil, not laden with treasures or the like, BUT playing into my players presumptions of what a spooky catacomb might be like - mostly. If it didn't have anything I fear they'd be bored!
My current ideas are to have some monsters roaming - I mean these are still old catacombs - or maybe traps of a kind for certain coffins, in the lead-up to the suspicious person's "lair". Any other ideas, or things people have done/specific monsters or monster combos?
7 PCs, all lvl 3 (with this being the capstone to them hitting lvl 4).
