So I'm sort of new to AL, been playing for a couple months, my local game store has been hosting online sessions. My first character is essentially based around Witchers so I wanted to have that sort of classic dual-longsword look going. I'm in Tier 2 now, so I took a +1 Longsword, but I also traded recently for a Flame tongue Longsword. This means I got my two longswords, but... I kind of want one to be silvered, just for the Witcher aesthetic. My understanding is that silvered weapons are a way to bypass certain resistances before you get a magical weapon.
So my main question is this - is there ever a situation where adding silver to a standard +1 longsword be any sort of beneficial? Or do the benefits of a magical weapon overlap with the benefits of silver? I might do it ~anyway~ because why not go extra for the aesthetic, but I'd like to know before I waste my gold LOL.
Not really. It might come in handy in the unlikely circumstance you find yourself in an Antimagic Field fighting something that resists nonmagical attacks from nonsilvered weapons.

Oh I guess that's true. Seems like a pretty rare circumstance for sure though.
It is mostly for flavor but by tier 2 the cost of silvering a weapon is pretty modest so honestly I'd just go ahead and do it for the role play reasons even if it had no practical application. :)
A creature could in principle have a special vulnerability or weakness to silver (beyond lycanthropic resistance/immunity), though I'm not aware of any that actually do.

Consider silvering the ammunition for your ranged attack.

I don't use my crossbow super often (Eldritch Knight) but that's not a bad idea either.
Thanks for your help guys!

In Strahd, in the random encounters section - the werewolves in human form try to determine if a character has a silvered weapon, if none they attack.
so having one to flash around might have some value.
