There’s a million variables that could impact the speed, so don’t worry about it. I’d say hand wave it. Decide how long you want it to take (5 rounds or whatever), and that’s how long it takes.
use an hour glass, a three minute egg timer, what ever whenever the timer goes off in the real world that is when the event happens in game (the hallway fills with water)
Hello all,
Looking for opinions or ideas on how you would rule the speed of running water.
My players are going to be encountering a possible trap. It is located in a hallway that is located under the ground under a lake.
Without going into detail about the layout of the room etc, if triggered it will cause a "hole" to open and the water above them to flood in.
The water will be flowing straight down into the hallway and the hallway is at a slant downwards.
I'm curious as to what you would rule the speed of the water and how quickly it would fill up.
The hallway will be approximately, lets say 60ft long, 8ft tall and 10ft wide.
How much time would you give players to figure out how to open the door until the room fills with water?

Awesome, thanks for all your advice
