Possible spoilers for Prince of Apocalypse I’m running Prince of Apocalypse and I wanted to spice up the legendary weapons pop the prophets. I know they have already a flaw but I wanted also to have something else happening to really make my players think twice before using them - I mean there are shards of the Elemental Princes in each of them !
This is my plan, I’d be super keen on having feedback :)
1 day after Attunement > small alterations DROWN - barnacle appears WINDVANE - hair floating in the air TINDERSTRIKE - Eyes turns yellow-red IRONFANG - Skin turn brown-scaly
1 week after attunement> WIS save DC10 or big alteration (you also now need a WIS10 to remove attunement ) DROWN - Water Dependency: If you fail to immerse yourself in water for at least 1 hour during a day, you suffer one level of exhaustion at the end of that day (You can only recover from this exhaustion through magic or by immersing yourself in water for at least 1 hour) + Amphibious: you can now breath under water, WINDVANE - Air Dependancy: Windvane needs the dying breath of an humanoid once a day, or you suffer one level of exhaustion at the end of that day (You can only recover from this exhaustion through magic or by collecting a humanoid soul with your spear) + Unending Breath: You can now hold your breath as long as you’re not incapacitated. TINDERSTRIKE - Fire Dependancy: Pyromaniac = You feel the pull to incinerate 1 humanoid every day or you suffer one level of exhaustion at the end of that day (You can only recover from this exhaustion through magic or incinerating an humanoid). + You learn now the cantrip Create Bonfire IRONFANG - Earth Dependancy: You need to ingest 20 gp worth of Gems to harden skin every day or you suffer one level of exhaustion at the end of that day (You can only recover from this exhaustion through magic or by ingesting Gems). Earth Resilience parts of your skin are covered by a thin crust of mineral. When you aren’t wearing armor, your AC equals 13 + your Dexterity modifier.
2 week after attunement > WIS save DC15 or Under Charmed by the Prince “Maybe I should follow the weapon suggestions. The coming of the Elemental Prince might actually be positive for the world” (Switch to True Neutral- WIS15 to remove attunement)
3 week after attunement > WIS save DC20 or Under Suggestion by the Prince “You will open the portal and stand by my side to clean to world of its sins” (Switch to Neutral Evil (NE) - WIS20 to remove attunement)
Note: in my campaign, the holder of 2 weapons (windvane and drown) is Neutral Good
