My party is stopping by a magical bakery in this weeks session during a day of downtime and I want to have a menu of sweets and pastries for them to purchase and play with. I want to have fun/punny/creative names and each causes a effect for 1 minute after consumption.
E.g. Owlbear claw; the eater is under the Silence spell for 1 minute OR Dragonflake cookie; the eater is under the effects of Dragon’s Breath for 1 minute.
Any recommendations or thoughts are welcome and appreciated! Thanks!
You could create a little pouch of cookies reminiscent of Jelly Beans where every single cookie has a random effect based on the wild magic table. Maybe the 'Cookies of Rainbowy Randomness' or stuff like that.
You could do something like innate spell scrolls or charms that allow people to cast spells once or twice. Another thing you could do is if you gave people advantage or disadvantage on the next roll or you could inflict or cure status effects with them, examples are the conditions poisoned, stunned, or incapacitated. Just some ideas if this was a small bit and not apart of the main plot.
The Delicious Donuts - A character who eats these must succeed on a DC 10 + the number of donuts consumed in the last minute wisdom save or realize that nothing will ever be as good as the donuts they just had, they gain one level of sad upon this realization.
Tuxedo Cake - This cake comes in the splendid form of a penguin, after consumption the eater must make a DC 13 wisdom save or become a penguin wearing a tuxedo, in this form they can't speak and can only do horrible renditions of wedding musics.
Croissant - The eater of this pastry must speak in a french accent exclusively for the next minute
DM's Despair - This seemingly normal pastry actually holds the key to destroying a DM's day, upon consumption the eater gets avantage on all charisma related checks for the next minute
Baguette - Also functions as a +2 Club, but only works once.
Airy Pie - On consumption the eater gains the effects of levitation for the next minute. Levitate
Rainbow Macron - Woah, colors, don't stare too hard at it or you'll be stunned
Mini Universe - Comes with the realization that this was an actual mini universe you just destroyed
The Mind's Eye - A small cake named for the eye shape, upon consumption the eater sees all and knows all, or at least they think they do. You make that part up.
Normal Donut - Normal Donut, nothing happens, sad
Magic Baklava - It'll change you! No really. For the next minute the eaters form changes to become someone else's, maybe if two party members monch on these they switch characters for a bit?
Lemon Tarts - Sour, no speak, mouth puckered and closed tight
Thought Truffle - The eater's thoughts become visible to all for the next minute, like in a comic.
One of my players accidentally created a muffin monster in the feywild, if you like i could post its stats!
That would be very funny, please do!
The Muffin, AC 15, HP 135, Speed 30ft
Resistances: bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing dmg from non-magic weapons.
Immunities:Prone, Charmed.
Traits
Life Hunger: If a creature the Muffin can see regains hit points, the Muffin gains advantage on attack rolls and its bite attack deals an extra 2d12 necrotic damage till the end of its turn.
Many-Eyed: The Muffin cannot be Blinded and can see in a 360 degree area around it.
Multiattack: If the Muffin has an opponent grappled, it can, on its turn, make a bite attack against that opponent.
Standard Actions
Tentacle-- Melee weapon attack, +7 to hit, 10 ft reach, Hit: 2d8+3 bludgeoning dmg and target must succeed a DC 15 STR save or be grappled. Can grapple 4 creatures at once.
Bite--Melee weapon attack, +7 to hit, 5 ft reach, Hit: 2d8+3 piercing dmg.
(for want of a better term) Legendary Actions
Irresistable Aroma-- The Muffin blows a gust of delectable scent in a 40ftx5ft line to overcome a target with desire. Failing a DC 17 Wis save will cause the target to use its movement on its next turn to move towards the Muffin, and it's action to try and take a bite (standard unarmed attack; on a hit, target must succeed a DC 18 Wis save or be stunned for their next turn by the deliciousness). This cannot be used if the Muffin is below 100hp.
Half Baked--The Muffin reverts to a doughier state, doubling the reach of its tentacles, raising it's AC to 18 (as it's elasticity makes it harder to damage), and giving it a -2 penalty to attacks. This condition ends if the Muffin takes more than 15 points of fire damage. The Muffin cannot use this ability unless it is between 60 and 75hp.
Flambe-- The Muffin spouts molten dark chocolate into the air, falling around it in a 20ft radius. Creatures in the radius must make a DC 16 Dex save or else are blinded by the darkness of the chocolate for 1d4 rounds and take 2d8 fire damage. On a successful save, the target takes half damage and is not blinded, but does see as if in darkness for 1d4 rounds (this does not count as 'magical darkness' and interacts normally with darkvision and light sources on the target's person). The Muffin can only use this action once, and only if its HP is 35 or less.
Troll Tarts: Green tart filled with a troll's finger and cream. DC 14 con saving throw, on success player regenerates 5 hps/rd stopped on fire/acid, on failure the finger is going through the players guts causing disadvantage on saving throws for two days. There will be a loud yelp when the player passes it, finally.
Lamia Finger: A long flat shortbread cooking shaped as a finger. DC 15 wis saving throw, on success the player can cast disguise self as a free cast for the next two days. On failure the player has disadvantage on all wis saving throws and if a Lamia is within 20 miles the player will move towards the lamia.
Ettercap Eclairs: A long donut topped with a chocolate web. On eating the eclair for the next two days whenever the player is in combat, roll a D20, on a 1 the player vomits webbing surrounding the player 10' square requiring a DC 11 strength saving throw or be restrained and on a 20 the player can aim the webbing 20 feet and create a 10 feet web square requiring a DC 11 strength saving throw or be restrained. Once the effect has taken place, the effect ends.
Multi-colored Malasada: A sugar covered round circular donut that changes color from brown, to green to blue. On eating the Malasada, the player needs to make a DC 14 constitution saving throw, on failure the player has a Mimic seed growing in their body and has taken one level of exhaustion. Every day they need to make a DC 14 constitution saving throw and at exhaustion level 6, the player dies and a baby mimic explodes from their corpse. A cure disease removed the mimic seed and the player barfs it up. On success, the player gains alter self ability cast at will for two days.

Gold Coated cake - Inedible, worthless, 1d6 bludgeoning damage
The Absurdity Sundae - Guarenteed to make the eater make one bad joke about the next thing they see
And of course, there's always the option to just have a pastry that makes a character roll one the wild magic surge table.
Hope this helps, though, honestly, maybe not and these are insane, sorry that some aren't really "Pastries" :]
Edit: Forgot one
Edible Brownies - Yep, these are definitely just brownies. Really. Woah. Colors.
