I am looking at developing a one shot where it’s based in an arena. I would like the party to work together to defeats enemies in rounds (almost like a tournament style).
How would people run this? How would you determine which other teams go through?
I watched Battle for Beyond and loved it. I would like to run it similar to that.
You’re input and advice would be greatly appreciated.
I’d decide which enemy groups I want to go through. You should try and keep control of that, rather then letting luck decide who the opponent is.
One other thing I’d definitely do is switch up the terrain for each fight — use different elevations, impassable areas, and spots with difficult terrain. Maybe hazards like fires or poison clouds that do damage if you stay in their aura. Maybe for one, flood the place and have some rafts floating in lake. Just don’t make it a big oval time after time, that would get boring.

These are great thank you. I will definitely include these.
