I'd very much like to add as many references as possible to scifi.
I'm definitely going to have a space-hulk dungeon filled with genestealers from 40k.
Alien, Predator, guardians of the galaxy, treasure planet, the aliens from life of Brian, spaceballs, star wars, star trek, john carter of mars, and very importantly, Space Captain Smith (the books by Toby Frost) will all feature somewhere in this!
I will dust off my old spelljammer materials as well as converting some hard SF from Traveller, mix in with Farscape. Also opens FR to meet Greyhawk and possibly Blackmoor. Love me a good space opera as well.
Currently working on making Spelljammer specific artificer. Proceeding slowly on another thread, learning as I go.
I’ve always loved the Shanara series, especially once they got the airships into the story.
Current plan -ish, is taking shape on Eberron. House Cannith artificers create the tech for the power crystals (Diapsom Crystals sp?) for drive power. Create an experimental warship, crewed fully by artificer warforged of various flavors. (Entirely crewed by them as they were considered expendable and it was still in testing phase). Now that the war has ended, and the warforged freed, the crew set off on their own adventures.
Still working out the whole Spelljamming helm bit as the Arcane are so stingy with their tech, but, got the planetside part coming along decently.
Watching this post with interest.

I have an epic level Eladrin sword mage (homebrew class) with the spelljammer from undermountain. Starting to figure out what I want to do with him/it now that spelljammer is coming out late summer. For those looking for ideas you might check out the FR wiki for the elven imperial fleet and the first and second unhuman wars. We have stats for smokepowder upto laser weapons that can be linked to things like travellor and other spacefaring games and sci-fi stories.
This is a great thread! Getting a tons of cool ideas for my notebook. ( titled; “How to kill pc’s in interesting ways.”)
Something I had started back in 1990, but shelved until recently, was a module type campaign based in spelljammer, but also incorporating a mythal.
Mythals were the epitome of high level, magical expression, several of which still hold considerable power, centuries later. Some are small, as in the wards of Silverymoon or the dragons ward of Waterdeep. Others were huge, such as Myth Drannor. There are several….missing, of sorts, or at least a few with very little information.
What we do know is, the elves, in several different spheres have whole armadas, as well as bases. The Crown of Correlon being the most famous. We know elves love their secrets, and love magic even more.
We also know, human mages covet power and magic even more, and even more than life. (Isn’t every lich a human to start….or is that just my take on it?)
So, this could go many ways. Espionage mission to locate the secret elven shipyards or high command…..which happens to be inside a mythal.
Or: a new body has been located by astronomers. A huge asteroid, nearly a planetoid sized body, where none was before. An expedition is launched to discover what it is, where it came from and how to change its course from impacting the planet….****y to discover….its a wizard mythal and loaded with ships and an army…. DM note: a new adversary moving into the neighborhood with magic and ability enough to wreak serious havoc over the entire planet from orbit. Could lead to some epic space battles or single spy missions.
Just my two cents.

1) Rearrange the Spelljammer Academy map to this (from top to bottom):
Sky Dock
Bridge
Spelljammer Nexus
Cadet Quarters
Gymnasium
Stores
Simulation Deck
Administration
Sea Dock
The reason is that this keeps the Visitor section nice and isolated from the rest of the Academy. Cadet Quarters have two regions where Cadets are awake (1 above and 1 below), so Cadets that find themselves under attack can quickly wake up the rest of the group. The Bridge is far away from the Visitor Entrance, meaning security can be appropriately tightened on the Sky Dock. There would need to be a 'detour' around the Bridge for those without Gold Access, along with a landing field away from the Academy for Visitors who arrive via Spelljammer (or other flying capability). These Visitors would transfer to a boat and go to the SeaDock.
2) For an Elder Evil Campaign, bring in Atropus. The Spelljammers have to use Holy weapons to destroy the Atropals around it before those Atropals descend on a planet. Even more fun, those Atropals on a planet are the remnants of what survived after burning up in atmosphere, so Atropals in space around Atropus might be stronger.
3) Engage the forces of the Overseer in space, and help the Rael survive its assault. Take the minor description of starships from the Odyssey 2e boxed adventure 'Tale of the Comet', and expand on that.
"Frodo, Bilbo, Gandalf, Galadriel, and Elrond are all aboard a ship setting sail from the Grey Havens to Tol Eressëa. Also aboard are you and your companions, having proved instrumental in other ways in the War of the Ring. While you certainly hope that the ship will stick to the Straight Road and reach the Lonely Island without incident, who knows what adventures await if it were to accidently veer off course? After all, there's more Eä than just Arda, and Morgoth spent countless eons in its dark and distant regions before the Years of the Lamps, perhaps sowing the seeds of dark fruits which may yet bear forth further evils from him..."

My ideas:

Introductory premise to hook the players:
