I'm preparing a Dungeon that I intend to cover two Adventuring Days worth of combat with. I've created the types of encounters I want with the monsters I want, rated the individual challenge ratings, and staggered things out in groups. I have two spots where the Party can take a Long Rest, although these spots become unsafe after 2 Long Rests / X period of time (still working that out). I *believe* I have things staggered out to avoid PC's stumbling or being trapped by corralling into multiple encounters, though I'm kinda fretting that one. There's a "Gating" encounter ahead of the dungeon to demonstrate the dangers ahead.
Does anyone have any other advice as far as goes dungeon design or encounter structure, whatever, to make sure this avoid being both too easy, or too hard? I want it to be rough, but I only want it to be a TPK if the players get stupid or overconfident. I can provide the specific encounters on request (bear with me in response time) as well as the level I expect the players to be at, which is 9th or 10th, and possibly 8th with good tactics and intelligent use of abilities and magic items, including the ability to stagger out their own arsenal.
