I think I made my Talon always roll advantage against orcs. And the Orcs in the cave reconize the hilt and weapon from stories. Made it Interesting for my players.
I agree with those that noted it as being an "unremarkable" magic item (only being a +1 longsword), but as my players got a great roll on their history check and remembered the story I just made my own home-brew item for it (based on standard +1 longsword). Named it Talon, and put the text in there for the description and story so they have that information as flavor.

Where is the "Talon" in the Lost Mines of Phandelver Magic Items Package?
As it is a longsword, +1 with no special properties, it has no business having its own listing.

It is just a +1 Weapon. It doesn't have any special properties. I'm actually thinking of making a version of Talon that has special properties.

There is already a lot of magic item, I would definitely not buff it or at least not right away ( make it up-gradable maybe ?
