Heya gang! My party of 4 lvl 6 adventurers (with a decent amount of magic items) are tromping through a stocked underdark dungeon on their way to face an unknown BBEG; an Alhoon who wants their gnome paladin NPC life essence for his own!
I've studied Keith Ammann's The Monsters Know Alhoon entry for the actual combat but I want a final vault/chamber where the Alhoon can fade in and out of the party's view/line of sight.
So what sort of lair are we talking about? Natural caverns or subterranean ruins or structures, lots of variety in the Underdark, if you need an area where the Alhoon can fade in and out of the party's line of sight you could always use low hanging stalagtites and stalagmites, caverns with volcanic activity that spew misty fog that obscures vision or even just a maze of interlocking passageways that creatures can sneak by players and sneak up on them.

Any thoughts or recommendations?
