I'm about to start a new campaign and would like ideas, thoughts, and overall advice for what I plan on carrying out. I have been DMing for several years now, taking players through worlds of my creation and official games.
The catch is that I will be DMing along side 3 other DMs, organizing a group of +/-20 players. The base campaign is a massive highly magical labyrinth, where the four groups, or teams, race to get to the center first, fighting against monsters and possibly each other.
I have already created a list of pre-generated encounters: NPCs, boss monsters (leveling by milestone), puzzles, and traps. If anyone has any fun ideas of encounters please do share.
I have already ran a campaign similar to this one, four teams against each other, and it turned out ok. Partly me being a new DM and being too ambitious, and partly because all the players were new to the world of DND. This time I have a bit more experience under my belt, and more then half of the players are veterans now.
I have created a massive square maze, each group with start in a corner, and each dead end to the maze with be a door that leads to an encounter. After a significant distance traveled the DMs with mark on the main map to see if the groups will meet.
The only thing I'm truly worried about is that all the players won't level at the same speed, or that some will be more powerful due to magic items.
You should make sure to coordinate hwavily with your other DM's. This seems to be a bit of a huge task so communicstion is key. Make sure that the exp and items are similar enough between all groups so no one team is way too over powered. Communicating through a discord or something between DM's frequently couldn't hurt. Also this might not be an issue but if one group can have more sessions you might need to find a way to make other sessions longer or more streamlined so no group gets left behind.
