Hey all! I'm going to be running Dragon Heist soon and one hole I'm kinda seeing in the adventure is the part where it basically tells you "just do whatever for a while" until the Fireball goes off. The faction side quests seemed a little light on story or purpose, and also I'm not certain my players are all going to want to join factions to begin with (our table is pretty casual and we only have about 2 hours to play a week).
I'm wondering what other people have done to fill that gap between players establishing themselves in Trollskull Alley and the Fireball. I'm thinking they would be interested in restoring the tavern, but I'm still thinking I'll need to write some adventure of my own for that.
Funnily enough I ran a Keys from the Golden Vault adventure too, the Murkmire Malevolence, but substituted the Murkmire Stone with the Stone of Golorr as a way of introducing that into the adventure. Worked well and my players enjoyed robbing the museum and then getting ambushed by my chosen big bad and having the stone stolen which gave them an extra reason to actually care about the whole McGuffin
I'm fine not including a heist. I told my players that the name is horribly misleading and it's more of an urban detective adventure a la Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes.
Not that I'm against including a heist.

Interested in hearing y'all's thoughts!
I’m running The Stygian Gambit from Keys of the Golden Vault so they can do their own heist and make some coin to renovate Trollskull Manor.

That's interesting! Sadly I don't own Keys from the Golden Vault, but I wonder if I have another module I can slot in that works as well.
Including the Stone early also sounds like a great idea
I think it’s a pretty common option to try and actually add a heist into Dragon Heist since there’s not actually one in it as written 😂
