In a few weeks I planned with my groups DM that I'll DM for a One Shot quite soon. All the PCs will be of Level 10 and as it turns out most of the PCs are of a chaotic and/or evil alignment (and the players do probably count as really chaotic, too). I did have a plan for a plot and encounter but I'm not quite sure if it's actually fitting, enough or maybe even too much. I also wanted to maybe make that one shot specifically for PCs with chaotic/evil alignment as kinda a 'antihero' plot (still have to find some ideas for that one).
There'll be about 5-6 PCs (we're quite a big group) and I planned that they'll encounter a dragon of CR 13 and a bit later two assassins (CR 8).
Any tips for me as first time DM or ideas how to make it a bit better overall?
Are these pre-made characters or are they the actual PCs that the party uses?
Also, how much time do you have allocated for the one-shot?
For one-shots, I like starting with a basic story idea. In your case, perhaps it's something like, "the party was given a map by some entrepeneurs (the assassins) to a dragon hoard. The map may or may not have mentioned the dragon being alive. The assassin's plans are to follow discreetly, then attempt to attack the party once they are weakened, and hopefully after the dragon is dead."
I'd recommend something close to the "5 room" dungeon idea. Where there is an entrance (and perhaps an encounter) , decision/puzzle, that leads to the boss fight, which then has your aftermath fight of the assassins at the end".
Hope that helps some.

"An' things ha' come to a pretty pass, ye ken, if people are going to leave stuff like that aroound where innocent people could accidentally smash the door doon and lever the bars aside and take the big chain off'f the cupboard and pick the lock and drink it!"
The PC are not the Characters the group are currently using(since most of them are a complete mess (my group REALLY likes stupid character ideas)) and we normally meet for about 3 to 4 hours (sometimes less sometimes longer).
If the characters are chaotic/evil, I would go more down the lines of being hired by a criminal organisation to complete a job. Assassinate the mayor of a town or kill a priest/cleric of a large temple. Or maybe kill the head of a rival guild, making sure that it "sends a message". Quick infiltrate, make the kill, get out. Epilogue of events a month later and how it has changed things.
Sometimes it is fun to just let your players run wild, especially if they are evil alignments. Insane character ideas can lead to some of the best comedic campaigns. One thing you could do is have something funny like the evil PCs have to go rescue a dragon that was 'kidnapped' by a princess. The dragon could be some kind of criminal overlord, or their boss. They could have to infiltrate the princess's castle and then free the dragon, probably killing a lot of guards along the way.

And yeah it helped, thanks

Thanks to both of you, those ideas actually gave me some inspiration.
Glad we could help :) DM-ing for a high level evil party is no easy task.
