So I’ve been toying around with an idea for a home brew campaign world. After fleshing it out I realized it would limit the players choices as far as character creation goes. I want my players to be able to play what they want to play so I scrapped the idea.
Our new campaign starts tomorrow night. I’ve told everyone just make a 1st level character and we’ll fill in the blanks with world building as we go. My players created their characters and I am now overly excited because what they made aligns with the ideas I had set aside for future use!
My ideas are really just background noise for now. Things they can’t possibly tackle at first level, but their characters can easily be connected with the overall theme I have in mind!
Im really hoping they take to the ideas I’d like to introduce and run with it. I’m just excited that we might have something a little more special for this campaign.
Anyway, just had to express my excitement. Anyone else have an experience like this? Let’s hear it!

Tonight was the first game! I gave them each a tiny piece of the vague world lore before we started. Only had the village we’re starting in roughly mapped out. No real over arching plan, just a few random things I thought were neat. One of the players picked up on something I didn’t think would ever come up and completely ran with it and everyone else jumped in as well! So yeah! This is our campaign now! Part One: Rescue the Tavern Keepers (psionic?) daughter from a group of people I haven’t created yet :P first stop, the goblin camp that served as a distraction!
