Long-Story Short:In my Forgotten Realms campaign, the city of Myth Drannor was destroyed when the city of Thultanthar crashed into Myth Drannor, and left a massive crater in its wake and the elves whom survived fled to Semberholme. In my version of the world, a collection of elves returned to Myth Drannor to protect the ruins of the city and prevent any desecration from happening to the site, as well as to protect any possible artifacts buried far below the ground.
There's currently an Illithid raid happening in the ruins of Myth Drannor, as the party infiltrated an Illithid colony and pissed off the entire hive, causing the hive to track them to Myth Drannor and begin attacking the elves there, sensing something powerful lurking beneath the ruined city. What would be some fun encounters/dungeon designs to do once the party descend into the ruins beneath the city where the crater was formed?
Next Session Plot-Points
The party wizard, Melody had just been killed by an Alhoon's disintegration spell, and because of a fun home ruling regarding the Ring of Mind Shielding and a specific spell the Wizard cast, he went into the ring being held by the Goliath Barbarian, Auggan. This was done in the hopes to be able to speak with him and guide him slightly. The halfling warlock, Rylie put the dust that remained of Melody into an empty potion bottle for safe-keeping.
The Illithid are here in Myth Drannor to track down the ones who stole powerful artifacts from them, and in turn learn that powerful artifacts lie in the ruins of Myth Drannor and they want them for themselves.
The Elder Brain who controls the colony is also here, named Amygdalan and wanted the wizard's body in-tact so it could steal Melody's brain and intellect and either absorb the contents of it and become far more powerful than the original brain that it had taken over. This is now no longer possible with the wizard being turned to dust.
The surviving members of the party have now encountered the Elder Brain in the Arch Druid's keep in Myth Drannor and that's where the next session will be picking up.
The Elder Brain is now keen on taking the brain of the Arch Druid, but if the fight starts going sideways it will be plane shift back to its colony in Pandemonium.
Essentially, what would be some fun hooks to throw at my party, and should the party need to descend deeper into the ruins, what would be some cool finds down there?
There is an older one for 2e called The Ruins of Myth Drannor. Get it here. cannot attest to its quality as it's just too long ago. ;)

There is an old module for Myth Drannor. I think you can find a lot of treasures in that module that you can borrow, maybe also some plots too.
Sweet, thank you!
Any idea what edition?
