Let me put you in a setting. Your players are travelling through the forest to get to another town. This area your players are going through has been known to wield alot of Nature magic. What are good encounters/obstacles/quests that can be thrown their way? or any setting in general
Nature magic? A renegade druid who's developed a ritual to turn a humanoid into a level-appropriate plant monster under their control. Awakened trees would probably be a bit much, but, depending on character level, anything from twig blights to thornys should do.
Note to staff: Even just plurals of the ones (like wolf/wolves) that change one or more letters in plural form. Just support grammatically correct tooltips for those. That's all I ask.

Anything either you or the players find interesting. Adding personality and an identity to practically anything is a good way for it to stick out and make it fun, regardless of the stats or type of creature you put in. For me, it's all about playing to the crowd. There's nothing wrong with doing the expected or thematic, but sometimes something totally off the wall or even actually ridiculous is fun.
Even something that seems absolutely insane and out of place at first can be explained away if you're good enough at coming up with excuses for it. Even for stuff like "Why is this whale blocking the road in the middle of this forest, and furthermore why does it seem to be perfectly alive and doing well?"
Or "This obviously undead fellow in this brown robe carrying a wooden staff (that looks brand new) calls himself 'Pastrius Bearclaw'... he claims he's a Druid and that he's looking for all his fellow Druids around here, but he seems kind of fishy.. what's he all about?"
Just anything you can think of really. Depends on how much you're willing to prepare ahead of time and/or ad-lib stuff, and whether you want traditional fare, something a little unusual, or even something completely off-beat and a bit crazy.
The wild nature magic that floods the area has given the local plants and animals odd properties. When the party forages for food, they accidently eat some plants that cause them to shrink. This would normally be problematic enough, but the party also seems to have attracted the attention of some very excitable and strangely elementally charged squirrels.
The players must find the plant that shrank them if they want to work out a reversal antidote. However, they also really need to not get killed by overly rambunctious squirrels with breath weapons and other elemental properties.

I know how to do those squirrels. Take a quickling, give it lightning immunity and thunder resistance, take away its languages, drop its mental stats, change the dagger to a bite, change its alignment, give it a 10d4+ breath weapon, and calculate its new CR.

Tooltips (Help/aid)
Fey creatures (both good and evil) make fun encounters in forest:
Suggestion: Let some Boggles steal items from the party at night. They will not be happy ;-)

Oh, I forgot to mention, the plant they are looking for is a nut of some kind like a wild acorn.
