Long story short: my party's warlock who summons demons on a daily basis wants a lesser demon as his familiar (more specifically, a quasit). Honestly, I probably should have known this already, but can someone please tell me the rules for gaining a familiar?
Get to level three, take the Pact of the Chain class feature. This gives him a boosted version of the Find Familiar spell which includes quasit as an option.
If he's summoning demons on a daily basis, he's already past level 3, and there isn't a really established method of changing your pact boon once it's set.
If he is past level three and cannot pick the Chain pact, than I would say make a side quest where the character at the end will get a boon from their patron (a Familiar in this case) instead of any fancy gear or such. Obviously the details of how to obtain this are up to you, but maybe they have to track down the Demon's true name. Since that is a big thing for demons to never disclose, it would make for a possibly fun adventure depending on the party.
Alternatively, if they chose Pact of the Tome, they could take the Book of Ancient Secrets invocation and nab Find Familiar as a ritual. Alternatively to THAT, they could grab the Ritual Caster feat if your game uses them and choose the Wizard's spell list, which then opens access to Find Familiar that way. Now, technically quasits aren't on the regular list of familiars, but there is a familiar variant which gives the DM fiat to grant it if they so choose (and take it away if they so choose as well).

Familiar variant is not called with find familiar and doesn't use the rules for familiars created with find familiar, it's an allied monster.
I realize that. I noted that it isn't on the list of regular familiars, and that the DM has fiat to grant it or not. Perhaps I could have been more clear that this does require some buy-in from the DM, but the possibility is still there if the DM so chooses to use it.
Don't overlook that mechanically, any Familiar summoned by Find Familiar can already be a Fiend, no further features or allowances required. Sure, it's a fiendish Frog or Rat or whatever instead of in the shape of a Quasit... but it's a start.

I'm going to make this way harder than it needs to be.
