I have just started my first DnD beyond based remote DnD game, previously we have used DnD beyond and played physically or during lockdown I have been playing a host of other systems (Thank you Cyberpunk for releasing in 2020 lol).
My question as a DM, what is the best way of "handing out" magic items using DnD beyond remotely? Usually I would have printed off the magic item details and handed it to the players as a physical thing to hold, read, and then decide who holds it, it is a moment of excitement that always gets my players going especially as I pull an item out of my folder to pass over to be read. Is there a way in DnD beyond of me recreating this by either "unlocking" a magic item in game so the players can then access it, or sending the item details to the players (we are using Discord linked to our DnD beyond accounts). Or is it just a case of telling the players they my now equip a magic item and giving them the name?
If you have discord then what you can do is search up that item you are going to give and paste a link to that item and let them discuss who should get it. After, add it to one of their characters sheets that they decide on
If it's a homebrew and you've removed it from your collection to hide it from your players, you can add it back and your players can look it up if they refresh their character sheets. If it's an official item, they can just look it up on their sheet in the manage equipement option. You could create teh printed description as normal and email them the pdf or a jpeg copy of the description or link to the page on DDB.
