Trying to create a quick homebrew equivalent of a Storm Sorcerer that has additional spells known along the lines of the Abberant Mind or Clockwork Soul. It's a frustrating process - I've searched this forum for advice and tried variations of everything I've seen and it still doesn't work. Just for simplicity's sake, I'm just trying to do it with one spell to start, and the way I've done it - in keeping with the way it seems to work and all the advice I've seen on the forum
- I add a class feature called "Storm Spells"
- I make sure it's "granted"
- scroll down to "spells" in the Class Feature Options
-- add the spell Fog Cloud, check "consumes spell slot - yes," "counts as known spell - no," "available at character level - 1," and then save everything
refresh my character sheet for the level-one test character i've made with this subclass, and nope, it's not there.
is there something obvious i'm missing? is there a better way to do this? i've done everything i can according to the forum posts i've read and it seems the only effect is that Fog Cloud now appears twice on the list of spells i *could* learn.
Just as note, which you prob know, sometime the update takes 10+ minutes I find...
It sounds like you are doing things right...do you want this spell to always be there in "known spells", so you do not have to select it in the spell selector area...if so you need to set "always prepared" to yes. If you wanted to be like some of the subclass that has extra free spells, clerics and sorcerers do this, you would go "consume spell slot" yes, "counts as known", no and "always prepared" yes.
thanks! i think i must either have finally done it right or waited long enough, because now the "Storm Spells" feature is showing when i go to the Spells tab of the character sheet. felt like i was taking crazy pills there for a moment. appreciate your reply!
No problem, it will update quicker sometimes, but usually closer to 15min. I also find that in my test characters, I remove the subclass from the class feature when I go make changes, and leave it blank. Then add it back on for a full reset when I go back into the class etc.
