Our DM homebrewed a new item for our 5e game and I needed some help adding it to Dndbeyond for our campaign. It is his first 5e homebrew and he was unsure of a few of the aspects of creation so feel free to advise some alterations but he would like the basic idea left intact. We are mostly all new to 5e and the majority.of players are children or very casual so we are not too worried about the item being abused. This is what the DM wrote.
Splinter (of the Verdant Staff)
Attunement: Required
Slot: Arm/Wrist
Activation: Constant/Bonus
Effects:
*Poison Resistance (constant)
*The Splinter has 3 charges which can only be regained by expending Hit Dice during a Long or Short Rest. By expending charges you gain the effects as follows:
-1 Charge take 1d4 damage, gain +1 AC
-2 Charges take 2d4 damage, gain +2 AC
-3 Charges take 3d4 damage, gain +3 AC, Immunity to the poisoned condition.
*Effects last until you regain health by any means (Ex: Healing magic or potion, expending HD on a short rest)
If you look in the homebrew section on DDB you'll see that I tried to input it myself but it doesn't look right or show the charges on the character sheet.

For the charges go to additional information, click number of charges and type in 3 > check the check box with a green check mark of has charges > charge regain condition set it to other > save > wait for 5 mins.

This should be a very rare or rare item.
