I would like some criticism on this cursed homebrew item I have made.
Parasitic Plate (Plate Armor)
While wearing this armor, your strength score becomes 18 if it is not already higher, you gain a +2 bonus to AC, and a +5 bonus to initiative rolls. Additionally any melee weapon attack made while wearing the armor deals an extra 2d8 necrotic damage on a hit. If you start your turn with at least 1 hit point, you regain 5 hit points. You can reattach 1 severed limb as a bonus action if it is within 5 feet.
Curse: If you wear this armor for more than 2 hours, it will begin to merge with your body. Removing it after this point will take five times longer and you must have at least one person help you remove it. The person helping you can make a DC 18 medicine or sleight of hand check. If they succeed you lose half of your hit points, or all of them if the person fails. If you wear the armor for 4 hours, it will permanently merge to your flesh. The armor cannot be removed by anything other than a wish spell. While the armor is merged to you, you do not need to eat, drink or breathe. At the ending of every long rest you must succeed on a DC 18 constitution saving throw or have your hit point maximum reduced by 3d6. If your hit point maximum is reduced to 0 in this way, you are consumed by the armor and killed leaving no biological remains. Your hit point maximum can be restored by a spell such as greater restoration.
It seems relatively balanced, although I have a few notes. If it requires attunement, the curse would be revealed once you attune, in which case a player would likely remove the armor or choose that they want the benefits. either way, the 4 hour limit only matters if it doesn't require attunement. Having to wear full-plate all of the time would affect role-play. The hit point max reduction can be removed by rest-casting Aura of Life. I would recommend looking at living armor for inspiration, as its curse is simple and worse.
TLDR; make sure your party knows the item is cursed and what is is before choosing to attune. Only being removed by wish seems unnecessary, you should give your players an easy way to unattune if you don't.
