Would anyone mind helping me with some systems for a Homebrew dnd campaign I’m making? The Homebrew is adjusting DND to be able to fit an 80’s low magic eldritch horror + mystery campaign, centered around kids trying to figure out what the heck is up with their town. Obviously DND isn’t 100% made for that, so I’m home brewing systems to make it more personalized but I’m stuck on a few things. Primarily that I may have to Homebrew my own classes + sub classes.
Because DND is the only TTRPG that I’m familiar with, I am using it as a jumping board. For clarification, this will be for my own personal game, so the systems are for me and my game only.
Consider using the Kids on Bikes TTRPG system; it's designed from the ground up for exactly what you want to do. There's a free version of the rules available via Hunters Entertainment that you can look over to see if it appeals to you.
If you decide you still want to use D&D for this, understand that you're talking about essentially a total conversion mod on the scale of an expansion book like Xanathar's Guide to Everything. It's going to be an enormous amount of work and frankly, nobody is likely to sign on for an unpaid game design job helping you with it. Once you come up with some specific things you want to implement and have specific questions about them, then I think you'll be able to get plenty of feedback from this forum. Until then, there's really not much to work with here.
I'm sorry if that comes off a little harsh; I just want to be realistic about what you're asking here. I wish you the best of luck however you decide to proceed.
Would anyone who understands how to program homebrew into the builder help me? I have a legendary item I want to program for my homebrew campaign, but am tech dumb.
