Yo! im toying with some ideas for ranger and would love your guys input on them!
Paladin is half cleric half fighter so they get a channeled divinity and auras
artificers are half wizard half mad asf (i mean half fighter) and they get cantrips and infusions
rangers are half druid half fighter and they get!... shafted that's about it I think rangers need some type of resource that's like the druids or fighters to keep up with the other two half n halfs out there there's favored foe from tashas and its good for what it is (hunters mark with a different name) but they need something better!
I'm not saying ranger is bad but it could be built better and made more fun. a few ideas i had for this was
1. give them a 3rd extra attack this is pretty simple id prob add it around 11th to 13th lvl maybe even an extra feat at 8th level
or
2. a charge to do something that resets on a short rest maybe something like the shifter where you take on more animalistic features and buffs for a duration picking what best helps you in the moment from a list
or let the ranger pick between the two when they are making the character so it can fit what they want more!

Funny. I always kinda saw Artificers as half-wizard/half-rogue myself.
i could kinda see that but half of them gets extra attack and another one gets turrets that could be counted as extra attack
