one of my players wants to have a big boulder to use as a weapon. im struggling to figure out a stat block for that. he also has a band of smaller rocks around his waist to throw. any idea on how i'd do this? im making a homebrew campaign set in the book series six of crows, and its very difficult.
If you want to allow this combo to be effective, then you can rule that a boulder is an improvised weapon "equivalent" to a maul and thus allow them to use a maul to represent the boulder. If you want to be a bit more "realistic" you could rule that the boulder is an improvised weapon "equivalent" to a greatclub and allow them to use a greatclub to represent the boulder.
If you want to HB something for the boulder, then I'd suggest modifying the greatclub stats like so:
Boulder (greatclub) Heavy, Push Weapon Mastery
Deals an additional 1d8 bludgeoning damage on a hit but can only be used to attack once per turn due to its massive size and unwieldy nature.
For a thrown boulder just use the "Light Hammer" stats.
