Hey, I'm not sure if this is where to post but here it is.
I'm a DM and one of my player's character has been raised by badgers. We came up with the whole family. One family member is Uncle Colin a Coyote.
I would like to make special stats for Uncle Colin like he has magic and is more intelligent then a normal Coyote. But I have no idea how to create one or I'm hoping that there might be a homebrew already made like that? (Feeling a little lazy 😅).
I'm thinking like Cleric spells maybe? I don't want something too powerful, he is more a side kick and helping the main quest move along. My players are currently level 6 and I want them to do most of the fighting ect.
I'm not sure how to create the stats for it? Can I just pick random spells that I think will work?
Any tips would be great. Or if I have posted in the wrong area. Let me know. Thanks.
Either use player stats with a custom race if you are going for an anthro, or use a modified monster block with a spellcasting feature if not. I do think that a mix of support spells from across multiple tables could work if you come up with proper lore for the character, possibly created by mad wizards or struck by wild magic.
For stats I would suggest an above 10 for int and wis as well as a health pool that scales with the party if you pan on keeping him long term. you don't need to make proper homebrew for things only you will use and know about, and oftentimes my best homebrew ideas are just results of me actively modifying monsters midcombat.
Thanks, I'll have a little play around. That makes it sounds easier. I'll see what hp the players are at and make the Uncle high in int and wis. He won't be around long term just more for one side quests where a tree has gone corrupted. I forgot that only I can see his stats so he can do anything.
Ideas are forming... Thanks
