I'm running Curse of Strahd and to spice up combat a bit, I've decided to implement Sanity Checks ('14 DMG) that on a failure lead to a roll on the temporary insanity table. I'm finding it a little repetitive (I guess because it's roughly 10% for each option) and it's some times a bit disconnected from the intent (representing terror from whatever is menacing the party at the time). My thoughts were to create a new table that would have more options (to avoid quite as much repetition) and ones a bit more in line with being terrified than munching on their helmet as we had in on instance.
Do you have any suggestions? I'd like them to be interesting, so minds coming at it from different angles would be helpful.
